Q:

What is the purpose of The Forge Homeschool Cooperative?

A:

The purpose of the First Baptist Church of Kingston Homeschool Cooperative Ministry (herein referred to as “The Forge”) is to glorify God by providing spiritual formation and academic enrichment for homeschooling families in a manner that honors and supports the ministry, doctrine, and unity of First Baptist Church of Kingston.

Q:

Do you have to be a member of First Baptist Church of Kingston, TN to join/attend?

A:

No.  Participation in the cooperative does not imply church membership but does require respectful alignment with the church’s leadership and doctrinal position during all cooperative activities.

Q:

Is The Forge a drop-off cooperative?

A:

No.  It is not.  Each participating family is required to serve in a meaningful capacity each semester.

Service roles may include:

  • Teaching a class
  • Assisting in a classroom
  • Nursery or childcare support
  • Cleanup of facility

Do you require background checks?

A:

Yes.  All adults serving MUST have a background check.

Q:

What are the fees associated with The Forge?

A:

Families pay a $75 annual membership fee to participate in The Forge. This fee helps cover administrative costs, background checks, supplies, and general operational expenses of the ministry.

In addition, families will pay individual teachers directly for classroom materials and supply fees. These fees vary by class and are determined by the teacher based on curriculum and material needs.

The cooperative membership fee is separate from class supply fees.

 

Q:

How often does The Forge meet?

A:

The Forge is a weekly cooperative meeting on Tuesdays during the Fall and Spring semester.  Each semester is 12 weeks.

The cooperative recognizes the Roane County Schools' calendar for major holidays, scheduled breaks, and inclement weather.

 

Q:

What age groups are eligible to participate?

A:

The cooperative offers classes for students in K4 through 12th grade. Class availability may vary by semester based on teacher offerings and enrollment.

Q:

Why might my membership be denied?

A:

Membership in The Forge Homeschool Cooperative may be denied for one of the following reasons:

  • Annual membership fees have not been paid.

  • Outstanding balances remain from a previous semester.

  • Library materials or cooperative/church property have not been returned.

  • Required forms, waivers, or agreements are incomplete.

  • Background check requirements have not been fulfilled.

  • The Cooperative has reached capacity.

All membership decisions are made prayerfully and in alignment with the leadership and oversight of First Baptist Church of Kingston.
