Additional Information

Roller Hockey Begins Wednesday, September 16th 2020 for Boys & Girls of All Ages

Please notice there are TWO age groups---READ info so that you have the info that BEST FITS your family

1. Hockey will begin September 15th for our first nine week session, than every Wednesday. Nine week sessions will continue all year, with a break for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter until May. You may play the sessions that fit into your family’s schedule. Payment is due at the beginning of each session. You only need to complete one registration form for the year per child. There are two groups.

2. 11:00 – 12:00 for group A: Less experienced – this group is a group of any age child that cannot skate well and falls down easily. The first half hour will consist of drills to learn the basic skills of hockey. The second half hour will consist of games. This group is coached by players from the 12:00 group. Equipment needed: hockey stick, kneepads, gloves and helmet, preferable with face guard, but a bike helmet is acceptable. NO child can play without a helmet.

3. 12:00 – 1:00 for group B: More experienced – this is a group for experienced skaters. These are advanced skaters who skate fast and play hard. There is some knocking around on this team, so you need to be okay with this.

4. Equipment needed: hockey stick, kneepads, elbow pads, gloves, helmet with face cage (no bike helmets allowed)

5. EQUIPMENT may be purchased at Sports Gear, Play It Again Sports, hockeygiant.com, hockeymonkey.com, and inlinewarehouse.com. I know that several of you have had good luck purchasing equipment at thrift stores. If you have any equipment that your child has outgrown or no longer needs, please bring it on September 16th to sell, trade or donate so that we may all help each other obtain the necessary equipment. Please have your child try their equipment on before September 15th!! They have probably outgrown several things over the summer! We are well aware that hockey equipment is very expensive, but, in the past, the Lord has always worked out a way to provide everyone who wants to play with what they need, and I am sure that He will continue to be faithful to us this year. Do not let the cost of the equipment be what prohibits you from participating if your child really wants to play.

6. You may register at Chester Skate Center on September 15th. Please e-mail me to let me know that you plan to participate, so that we may plan accordingly.

7. COST: Group B: $45 for each 9-week session

Group A: $45 for each 9-week session

11. We are looking forward to a great turn- out and hope to see a lot of new faces…

Schedules will be passed out on Sept 15th. Please note that Homeschool skate is also on the last Wed of the month. This changes our time for that practice only. We will move up practice by 30 mins for each group that meets. So group A will meet on the last Wed from 10:30-11:30 and group B will meet from 11:30-12:30. AGAIN this is ONLY for the last practice of each month.

Covid Disclaimer-Participating in any extra activities or accessing any facility that we utilize for homeschooling events could increase the risk of contracting COVID-19 just like a grocery store might. Roller Hockey in no way warrants that COVID-19 infection will not occur through participation in any program or utilizing any facilities. We will take precautions with social distancing when off the rink, sanitizing/cleaning, etc. If your family has someone immune-compromised, you may want to consider taking the semester/season off but that would be up to you of course.

Masks are not required for any players. If you are sitting- waiting and are more comfortable wearing a mask we are allowing you to make the decision that best fits your family.
