Moms Events

Moms Events Team: If you are passionate about bringing homeschool moms together, this is the volunteer position for you! There will be 1 moms event in the fall and 1 in the spring. These are flexible to the creativity of the coordinator but the vision is to have some kind of workshop and guest speaker. Volunteers will work with the coordinator to find a location, develop the event, and advertise. 

Moms Event Coordinator: We are in need of 2 motivated moms to head each of our moms event teams. One coordinator will coordinate a fall event, and the over a spring event. These events are developed with the goal to connect moms within VHE. 

Field Trips for Elementary Students

Do you have younger children (10 and under) or have a passion for the little ones? Consider volunteering to plan a field trip/event for younger students. It can be as simple as a playdate at a local park, circle time at the library, or maybe a craft day. The minimum requirement is 1 event but you are welcome to plan as many events as your time and creativity will allow. 

Field Trips for Middle & High Students

Do you have middle school or high schoolers? Or maybe you're a retired teacher or have a skill that could bless our older students. Consider the volunteer opportunity for planning an event/field trip for older students.

Many of our events for the older students focus on career development, educational exploration, or is a social event. Previous volunteers have planned trips to different factories, vo-tech schools, pizza parties, game nights, museums, to a local artisan, and even Washington D.C. The minimum expectation is to plan 1 event, but you may plan as many events as your time and creativity will allow. 

End of Year Testing

End of Year Testing Proctor: You must have a bachelor's degree to volunteer for this! Stanford 10 testing will take place in May. As a tester, you will need to complete some easy requirements by BJU Press. You must commit to administering to one testing level during all three scheduled testing mornings, 8 am to 12 pm.

End of Year Testing Coordinator: We are currently in need of someone to lead this endeavor for the next school year. Our previous leader will walk you through how she has managed it over the years to give an easy transition. 

Field Day

Field Day Event Team (8 needed)- Coordinate and plan an outdoor family event in which kids of all ages compete against each other for prizes. Obstacle courses, 3-legged race, water balloon toss, and many other typical and not-so-typical field day type games will be held in May 2023 at a local park. 

Generally, this event has one coordinator and eight helpers. This can be as detailed or simple as the team decides on. 

Talent Show

Talent and Art Show Team: Work with an event leader to help with set up, flow, and tear down for the show. Help is also needed to serve refreshments. This generally takes place in spring. Typically held at a local church, the evening is a variety show. Between the show and fellowship time that typically follows, this is often a highlight of our group. 

Talent and Art Show Coordinator: We are in need of a motivated individual to lead this event. You will work alongside the previous leader to get acquainted with the flow of the event and for feedback. 

Kick-off Picnic

Kick-off Event Team: This August event starts off the VHE school year with a bang! This volunteer position requires finding and securing a location, advertising, planning discussion groups or speakers, and food planning. Generally, there is one coordinator and four volunteers to assist.

Plan a Unique Event

Plan a Unique Event: If you have a passions, hobbies, resources etc. that you would like to share with our homeschoolers then considering planning your own unique event. A board member will work alongside of you to coordinate and post on the calendar. 

Used Curriculum Volunteer

Used Curriculum Sale Team: Serve by advertising for the sale and coordinating the site reservation. Sellers, NOT volunteers, will be held responsible for set-up and tear down. You will work with a VHE board member for this event. Held in early June.


Graduation Hospitality Team 2023: If you have a high school student, usually a junior (not a senior), this would be an excellent place to volunteer. Support the parents of the 2023 graduates as they plan the graduation ceremony and reception. Specific needs are for people to serve refreshments, hand out bulletins, and minor set-up at the reception. Graduation will be held in May 2023.

Funky's Volunteer

Funky's Skate Day: Collect money and registration at one of the three VHE Skate Days held on a Friday afternoon in Nov, Jan, and March. Ideal for parents of independent skaters so that you can remain at the registration table.
