The spring 2019 STEM program registration is now OPEN.

Our theme for the spring 2019 semester is:

Physics & Mechanical Engineering plus Math



Our class topics are:

Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and *Math
*Snap Circuits will also be included for 3rd – 5th grade classes.

K-12th grade
 

Classes will be set up as K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, 8th credit, and 9th-12th.

K-2nd and 3rd-5th Classes Jan 31st – May 2nd  

1.    Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics

2.    Mechanical Engineering

3.    Critical Thinking Math

6th – 8th Middle School Classes (non-credit) Jan 31st – May 2nd     

1.    Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics

3.    World of Math

8th grade (credit) Jan 10th – May 2nd (Not available for new students)

1.    Friendly Chemistry**

**The Friendly Chemistry class will be offered for those 8th grade students that would like to seek one high school science credit w/lab.  The other 2 offerings are non-credit classes.  8th graders can choose the credit or non-credit option for chemistry. The credit option is a one year STEM commitment.

9th – 12th grade High School Credit Classes Jan 10th – May 2nd (Not available to new students)
**Registration for High School classes is closed.  Registration for the 2019/2020 school year will be available in March.

1.     Apologia Exploring Creation with Biology w/lab or    (FULL)                          

2.     Friendly Chemistry w/lab

**Students must choose either biology or chemistry

3.     Civil Engineering (fall) – Mechanical Engineering (spring)

**This class will also offer a financial/business math component.

**(1 credit biology w/lab – science OR 1 credit chemistry w/lab - science; AND 1 credit civil/mechanical engineering - elective)

**High School classes are a full year commitment.  They are offered only for credit.  No auditing.  Students are expected to come to each class fully prepared.

**Book list will be available after registration.

**Tuition for the spring semester (FISH members) is $225 per student for K-8th grade (non-credit), $250 per student for 8th grade credit students, and $275 per student for grades 9-12. Tuition for credit classes includes the lab and facility fees. Non-FISH members, please add $25 to each quoted rate.

**Current STEM members that have been participating in STEM classes prior to spring 2016 will continue to be grandfathered in under the FISH rate.  Thank you for your continued support!                                                                                          

K-8th non-credit - Tuition covers 12 classes (Thursday mornings from 8:45-12:00) STEM facility fee, field trip, and all lab supplies are included

8th grade credit – Tuition covers 14 classes (Thursday morning from 8:45 – 12:30) STEM facility fee, field trip, and all lab supplies are included.

9th – 12th grade credit – Tuition covers 14 classes (Thursday mornings from 8:45-12:00) STEM facility fee, field trip, and all lab supplies are included.

To secure your child's spot in the spring 2019 STEM program, please mail your $75 non refundable deposit to Michelle (3023 Beaver Pond Trail, Valrico 33596) along with **one registration form per student, **one behavior guidelines per family, **one youth insurance waiver per student, and a **photographic release form. Registration may also be dropped off at the BSBC office. Please make sure that your check is made payable to BSBC.  **Current STEM members only need to send in the spring deposit.  All forms are on file.

**Current STEM families may drop off the deposit in car line.


Tuition Recap and Deadlines

STEM tuition for the spring 2019 semester:

  • FISH members: $225/student K-8th;  $250/student 8th grade credit; or $275/student 9th-12th

  • Non-FISH members: $250/student K-8th; $275 8th credit, or $300/student 9th-12th
  • $75 non-refundable deposit due upon registration – All students
  • $25 lab fees for 8th credit class due by Nov 30th (lab fee for spring semester)
  • $50 lab fees for 9th-12th high school credit classes due by Nov 30th (lab fee for spring semester)
  • Remaining balance due by Dec 31st for spring semester
  • 8th credit and high school spring tuition due in full by Dec 31st

STEM classes will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Thursday mornings from 8:45 - 12:00**

**8th grade credit class will not end until 12:30.

STEM Spring 2019 dates:

Jan 10th – May 2nd for all Credit Students 8th – 12th
Jan 31st – May 2nd for all non-credit students K-8th   

STEM is a drop off program.
