Civic Engagement Opportunities with California Senator Brian Jones
Meeting Mr. Brian Jones to learn more about how he represents us (District 38) as the California Senator. We would also like to build rapport with him as a homeschooling community so that he can support homeschooling during critical times. Please study this Effective Advocacy Booklet (pp. 6-17) before our visitation. We will also have the physical booklet for each registered family at the Poway CFS admin table.

OR you can watch this video (Session 4: District Office Visits by Family Protection Ministry) as a family to understand the district office visitation. Feel free to browse other topics on our state government process.

Each registered family is recommended to write an introduction and/or a thank you letter to the senator. You may find several letter templates from the Family Protection Ministry (FPM) website. If your students are too young to write a letter, please consider drawing a picture depicting your family or a homeschooling day.

Please dress in clean and up-to-date clothes, since we will be representing the homeschooling community. Due to the importance of first impression, FPM recommends a suit for men or dress for women. They also strongly advise: Please DO NOT wear clothes that identify you as part of a group not related to homeschooling.

Preparing your talking points: teach your students how to answer questions about their homeschooling routine and experience. Please read p. 8-10 on the Effective Advocacy Booklet.
