FAQ

Q:

I'm not receiving emails or the Weekly Email Updates from this site.  What is wrong?

A:

If you have not been receiving your weekly email from SWIHE's web portal it may be because your ISP is blocking that mail.  Homeschool-Life.com (our web host) reports that Yahoo, Bellsouth, and AT&T often block email from the service.

To ensure the highest delivery rate, please be sure to add lifeline@homeschool-life.com to your email contacts and approved recipients list.  You will have to log into your ISP account or website to do that; it won't work to do it in from Outlook or other email program.

Q:

I joined this SWIHE website, but I'm getting TOO MANY EMAILS!  Make them STOP!

A:

Edit your profile.  That is where you choose whether to receive notifications immediately, daily, weekly, or not at all.  The amount of email you receive from this site is up to you.

Q:

I am a member of this SWIHE website.  How can I announce my church event or the non-homeschooling event that I am planning?

A:

You can announce your event in the News and Discussion forums.  Choose the category, "Church and Community."  Only the title will go into the Weekly Email.  If you use the entire 100 characters allowed for your Thread Title, you'll be able to list your most important facts in the title, which will go into the Weekly Email Update.  Those homeschooling families who are subscribed to that forum will get the announcement on the day you submit it.  Everyone else will get the announcement title in the Weekly Email.

Q:

I'm a member of SWIHE's website.  I'd like to have my announcement or classified ad run in the Weekly Email Update each week.  How can I do that?

A:

Calendar items will run in the Weekly Email the two weeks prior to their date.  Classified ads will run in the Weekly Email if they are new or changed during the week.  So, if you want your item to run again, update the ad or announcement during the week.  Your ad will remain on the website until its ending date, but will only run in the Weekly Email if it is new or updated.

Q:

I'm a member of this SWIHE website.  I've been trying to either edit or delete my previous posting/thread on News and Discussion.  I want to change the title of my thread and change the announcement in it.

A:

If you have new information, it would be best to either add a new post to your existing thread or start a new thread. Once you start  thread in the News and Discussion forums, that thread can only be deleted by an administrator..  The thread title can't be changed.  You may, however, edit the posts that you make to a thread.

If you must change the title, the best way would be to start a new thread with a new title.  For best exposure in the Weekly Email, be sure to take advantage of the entire 100 characters that are allowed for the title of the thread.  Only the title will appear in the Weekly Email.
