Vox Rationis Savannah Speech and Debate Club 2018-2019
Vox Rationis Savannah,
FEFC's very own speech and debate club
is preparing for another season!
The club will meet WEDNESDAYS
at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 608 Hampton Street. It is off of Waters Avenue, between Derenne and Stephenson.
Speech 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Lincoln Douglas Debate 3:00 - 4:00 PM
Students may participate in speech only, but debaters must participate in speech AND debate.
The first club meeting in Wednesday, September 4, 2019. We plan to meet twelve times before Christmas, and at least four times after the New Year.
Club membership is open to homeschooled FEFC students, ages 12-18 (as of September 1, 2019).
The purpose of the club is to prepare students to compete in tournaments held by the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association. The mission of NCFCA is "to address life issues from a biblical worldview in a manner that glorifies God". This is not a speech class. Students should expect to be participating every week after the first couple of meetings. By joining the club, you are committing to attend a qualifying tournament or a practice event. It is when our students prepare for competition, compete, and receive written feedback, that they make the greatest improvements in their communication skills.
Even though NCFCA offers competition opportunities in two styles of debate and eleven speech events, this year our club will be focusing on Lincoln Douglas Debate and five speech events.
The cost to participate in Vox Rationis is $25 per person, and every family is required to join NCFCA, which costs $125 per family by September 30, 2019. After October 1st the price increases to $150 (www.ncfca.org)
