Q:

How can I use my smart phone to respond to the forum?

A:

Because of the way the Text Editor works, this is the area that you type, it is incompatible with the iPhone.  We hope to change this in the near future.  I use an iPhone and found that there is a work around.  When you log into your site, using the iPhone, and you are trying to type within the Text Editor, press the Source button first.  (upper left hand corner of the text editor)  This will remove all formatting options but it will let you post to the forum.

Thanks,

Tom

Ps. This works for all smart phones

Q:

ReACHE membership FAQ sheet

Q.  Friends of mine are considering home schooling this/next year.  What activities can I bring them to so they can see what our group is like and ask questions about curriculum?

A.  We have a wonderful opportunity in ReACHE for care and support of home school parents, both new and veteran.  There are several activities listed on the public calendar.  Any of these events are open to the public.   We also have park days, lunches, field trips, and/or play dates that may be open to guests.  You can contact us for more information. Calendar items on the member-only site are generally restricted to current ReACHE members. Members should check with those activity coordinators before inviting guests.  We do ask that no guests be invited to co-op activities since these are a privilege for members only.

Q.  I am a new home school parent and just pulled my student out of school in the middle of the semester.  I want to join your group and get involved as soon as possible.  Can I just get my membership in now?

A.  Our Membership Director will be happy to help you through the membership process, which is currently open year-round. To download our membership forms, and to find out where to send these forms, see the sidebar to the left under public pages.  You will find a link for "Membership Forms".

Q.  Is there a list available of the co-ops and support services that ReACHE provides to its members?

A.  Yes!  There is a list available on the public side of the website that gives a general idea of the kinds of classes we have held recently. The membership director can give you more specific information on current events and services.

Q.  What do I need to do to be official when it comes to home schooling my child?  Is there a place for me to register?

A.  Yes.  Depending on where you live, you will need to register with a variety of attendance offices in the area.   Call:  601-825-8390.  If you have never enrolled a student in the Rankin County School District, you have until September 15th to fill out a Certificate of Enrollment form at the attendance office. If your child has been enrolled in the school system, you must first officially withdraw each student.  Then you need to fill out the Certificate of Enrollment at the attendance office. There is one Attendance Office located in downtown Brandon.  If you are at the intersection of College street and Hwy 80, turn like you are going to the Health Department.  Before the parking lot for the Health Dept turn right at the street before.  Then take your first left.  Turn left into a small parking lot (maybe space for 2 cars).  You will see a door and a small sign that has the Attendance office on it.  (The office is really on the backside of the health department.) For those on the Reservoir side of Brandon you can go to NWR High School and see Brittney Freeney, 919-9710.  Turn in off Lakeland to high school and veer to the right.  Go in and ask for her.  As usual it is good to call first.”

Q. I would really like to get connected with other home school parents and make sure that I have all the information I need to be involved in ReACHE.  What is the best way to do that?

A.  Join this Reache Website. Once our Web Master gets confirmation of your membership in ReACHE from our Membership Director, she will approve your website access and you will be able to customize your thread receipts in your email by choosing to receive email each time someone posts, or getting a daily summary of all posts.  Anything you could possibly want to know about ReACHE and our many activities is on that site, as well as our private Facebook page.  You do not want to miss them!!
