Meet Our Teachers
Preschool Mrs. Robin Hatton and Mrs. Katie Winstead
Mrs. Winstead has been teaching children of all ages for over 15 years as a piano teacher, pre-school teacher, and children's director at her church. Her goal is to instill in her students a love for learning and a curiosity for the world around them. She believes building Godly character starts early and is just as important as learning letters, shapes, and colors. She enjoys the quiet country life with her 3 children and husband where she is a stay-at-home mom and homeschool teacher. Spending time in nature, soaking up God's beauty and goodness, is a favorite pastime for her family. Reading is a daily occurrence in her household, along with singing, poetry, and bird watching. She enjoys running, cooking, and being with friends and family.
Stepping Stones Mrs. Angela Hohmann and Mrs. Gina Archambault
Mrs. Hohmann lives in St. Paul with her high school love and 4 children (ages 4-11). She studied Psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy at Northwestern University. She has a desire to help all children love to learn and understand their individual intelligence and their individual value as people who are able accomplish wonderful things through education. She spent 10 year on staff volunteering for Kids Against Hunger and has taught countless piano lessons to neighborhood children and family members. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, music, cooking, being with her friends and family and wandering through God’s good nature.
Mrs. Archambault has a K-8 Minnesota Teaching License which she keeps current with continuing education. She has a B.S. from the College of St. Catherine along with a Specialty in Language Arts, Literature, and Communications. Gina thoroughly enjoyed teaching elementary school for 7 years before becoming a stay at home mom and homeschooling her 3 boys. She loves to play soccer, broomball and help coach her kids' baseball teams. She enjoys making healthy meals with the vegetables from her garden and camping with her family. Most of all she has a passion for helping kids flourish.
ABC’s of Drawing/Nature & Art Ms. Joyce Nelson Shellhart
Ms. Nelson Shellhart has a BA from Mount Mercy University with a major in Art and minor in Education. She has taught elementary, junior high, high school and adult art education. She loves to teach and enjoys watching students’ confidence in their own creativity blossom. She is an artist, author and professional speaker. She lives in Fridley with her husband, their toy poodle, two birds and Fred the Betta.
Archery Mr. Mark Krey with Orion Archery
The goal of Orion Archery is to teach every student individually all the aspects of archery; including building confidence, self-esteem and focusing on the task at hand. Mr. Krey is a fully-certified instructor with a passion for the sport of archery and a love for the outdoors.
Elementary Science (Motion) Mrs. Mary Wheatley
Mrs. Wheatley graduated from Bethel College with degrees in Biology and Psychology. After spending time injecting and mutating fish and using fluorescent microscopy at the U of M, she moved on to studying the physical manifestation of abnormal psychology through fMRI at the U of Chicago. She chose to stay at home when her first son was born and now has three children whom she homeschools. In addition, Mrs. Wheatley cares for an almost 2-year-old girl and soon another daycare baby. She and her husband and kids live in Cokato where they enjoy shooting off rockets and playing board games.
Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) Mrs. Lolene Love
Mrs. Love has taught her four children, currently ages 10-18, for all of their school years. She graduated from Cornell University (in Ithaca, NY) with a degree in anatomy and physiology. During her childhood, she loved grammar but hated writing, which is why she loves the materials from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. The materials guide reluctant writers in learning how to express themselves. Mrs. Love has taught group IEW writing classes to a variety of ages for four years.
Martial Arts Coach Greg Nelson
Coach Greg Nelson is the Head Coach at The Academy, a one-of-a-kind facility that specializes in realistic martial arts training for fitness, self-defense, and competition. The Academy features the Junior Bushido Life Skills Program, which provides our instructors with an effective, ongoing, and systematic method of teaching children the common values upon which martial arts were founded: honesty, respect, responsibility, integrity, courage, tolerance, justice, self-confidence and politeness.
Physics Mrs. Allison Kirchhoff
Mrs. Kirchhoff is a former high school science teacher. She has a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (emphasis on science education) from the University of Minnesota. She is a full-time, stay-at-home mom/teacher and also operates an educational evaluation business on the side. Mrs. Kirchhoff has three children and is in her fourth year of homeschooling. She enjoys reading, cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening and playing volleyball.
Programming/Robotics Ms. Angela Marchio with Robots-4-U
The goal of Robots-4-U is to provide girls and boys the tools, guidance, education, and dynamic environment to develop their skills and interest in engineering and technology through hands-on learning tools and programs.
Beginner Spanish/Spanish Development Mrs. Patricia Demopoulos
Mrs. Demopoulos was born in Colombia, South America and raised in a bi-lingual family. She has taught Castilian Spanish and Language Arts for thirteen years for K-8th grades. She is blessed with a wonderful husband, two children and three grandchildren. The gift of teaching from our Lord and the joy it brings is complete! She relishes the gleam in student’s eyes when they exhibit the “joy of learning.”
Talkative Tidbits Mrs. Sarah Druley
Mrs. Druley is a homeschool mom of three girls. She is certified as both a sign language interpreter and cued language transliterator. She is the president of the Cued Speech Association of Minnesota. She teaches workshops in a variety of topic areas for individuals to grow in their skill development and communication fluency. She enjoys reading, being outdoors, and spending time with friends.
