The following tutorials, co-ops, and classroom opportunities are currently being posted to benefit Birmingham, Alabama metro area families seeking curriculum enhancement at the elementary level or additional help with coursework at the middle school and high school level.   Check back with this site or the individual links for the most current information. Many of our families have found the following organizations and teachers to be very knowledgeable and helpful.  It is the responsibility of each parent to evaluate the course content and teacher qualifications with regard to their family's convictions and their children's needs.  (Last update 2/20/18)

Links to tutorials in the metro-Birmingham Area:  Formerly Alabaster Tutorials, this parent led cooperative with professional educators as well as parent experts, is a ministry of Hope Christian School  and meets in the Hope Christian School  building in Pelham near Pelham High School. - ACT,SAT,PSAT preparation.  Tutorials located in the Riverchase area of Hoover. - high school, college and adult Bible and Apologetics classes.  Apologetics Resource Center -Christian Study Center, 280 area off Brook Highland Parkway. Click on classes and upcoming events.   classes and opportunities for homeschooled students 1st -12th grade Chelsea Tutorials meets at Grace Presbyterian Church in Chelsea    (2nd grade - high school)  K-12 in most locations. A nationally organized program using classical curriculum from a variety of publishers; several cooperatives meet in the metro-Birmingham area: Hoover, Bessemer, Shelby County.  Class sizes are limited by the charter for each location.   Contact information for your zip code will be on the "Find a Community Near You" link on their homepage link.

Cornerstone Cooperative located in Helena Al.  All ages.  Classes for elementary, middle school and high school.  Main website is only for registered families but contact information, statement of faith, and class listings are on the site.  Facebook page gives current discussions:  meeting in Homewood at Shades Valley Community Church on Oxmoor Road, this is "A Homeschool Tutorial-Style Co-op" for 4th-12th grade for the 2014-15 school year.  15-16 school year info will be posted spring of 2015.  Ballroom dancing for teens meets Fridays in the Riverchase part of Hoover during the school year and special summer classes meet on Fridays beginning in June.  Good for PE or an elective. Alabaster area, mostly 9-12, but check site for middle school. (McWane Science Center, downtown Birmingham, all grades.  Labs follow the Alabama Course of Study)  You may download the schedule.  Labs are four weeks in September and  four weeks in January. O. Johnsey, a homeschool veteran mom with a Masters Degree in Mathematics. Teaches in the Mtn Brook area.  Has taught at the highschool and community college level.  Online Classes fee for service and tutoring.  All grades through calculus.  " your home or mine, math workshops and free placement tests."  Has a homeschool bowling league from 12:30-2:30 on Tuesdays during the school year.  Manager Robert Fox 403-7466.  Small fee, lessons and competitions.  Can be used for PE credit. A department at Samford University with location across Lakeshore from the main campus.  Summer music camps for all ages, lessons, art and photography for highschool and up.
