Senate Bill 38 passed the Alabama legislature in the 2014 session and was signed by the governor in early April of 2014. SB 38 indicates another option for homeschooling families to teach as a private school. For information on this option, please contact the Alabama State Department of Education.
Premiers - is the preschool and primary age mom's support group for any family just begining home education. It is "first come-first served" and limited to 50 families. Enrollment is in the summer. Enrollment ends August 1. Premiers primary purposes are to :
Provide information relative to home education issues and to provide encouragement and practical help to those moms specifically who have K4-3rd grade children and who want to take the first steps toward being directly involved in their children's education. Each monthly meeting will have a topic in the field of early childhood education, managing a home or teaching and training children. Speakers are veteran home-school moms or professionals in their fields. Limited field trips and play dates help moms connect and provide hands-on educational opportunities for the young child.
