FAQs

Q:

I'm interested in learning more about homeschooling but I'm not sure where to start.

A:

We are more than happy to help you learn more! Please email us at rb@cfssd.org so we can connect with you via email, phone or in person to help answer your questions and point you to more resources. There is also some basic info on our website under Getting Started that you can browse through.

Q:

Why do you only allow families with at least one privately-homeschooled student (private school affidavit, PSP, or private tutor)?

A:

We understand that each family must make its own decision regarding which way to homeschool -- private or public.  Our vision is to provide support to those who are privately homeschooling, families who do not have free access to curriculum, classes, and other support.  We also feel that private homeschooling allows Christian families the most freedom to teach God's word in every aspect of discipling their children.

For those families interested in homeschooling privately but unsure of how to, we are more than happy to walk you through all the required records you need to have on file.  There are also monthly moms' support meetings to provide curriculum and teaching help, prayer, and encouragement, as well as the organic mentoring that happens one-on-one as we build relationships with one another.  Please contact us anytime at rb@cfssd.org to find out more about how to privately homeschool.

Q:

Why don't you have a regular Park Day like many other homeschooling groups do?

A:

We do have a monthly meeting for families to gather for support and fellowship.  But instead of having this during the weekday, ours is during the weekend to allow for more fathers to take part so that the whole family can be together.  We'd love to have you join us for an encouraging and fun time at Family Fellowship! You do not need to be a member to attend.

Q:

Do you have a co-op day?

A:

No, we will not offer co-op this year.

Q:

Do you have any high school students?

A:

Yes, we do have families with high school students.  Many of them have served CFS RB by teaching classes, producing our monthly newsletter, making our yearbook and leading worship at co-op.  We are excited to be a part of these young men and women's education by providing opportunities for them to gain real-world experience while serving the body of Christ.

However, at this time, we do tend to have more middle school and younger students than high schoolers. As we gain more high school students, we are committed to supporting their parents in "launching" them for adulthood and providing a place of fellowship for like-minded teens.

Q:

How many families are in your group?

A:

We have less than 20 families.
