Homeschooling the High School Years Workshop

How to Prepare a Transcript

This workshop will cover the basics of how to prepare a transcript.  We will talk about what information to include, how to structure your information, the inclusion of grades and/or a GPA, and how to add extra things like outside credits and extra-curricular activities.  And because some colleges require them, we will also look at how to create course descriptions.

Topics include:
• What to include
• Grades or no grades?
• Grading scales and GPA
• Course names and descriptions
• Organizing your information
   o By grade
   o By subject
   o When PSEO is included
   o Extra-Curricular and Volunteer Experience

You will receive a variety of formats to prepare your transcripts.

Kim Nelson will be teaching this workshop. Kim is one of the co-founders of CHAT (Christian Homeschool Academy of Tutoring).  She has been the co-director, registrar, and math tutor at CHAT since its inception in 2004.  Kim has four children, all of whom she homeschooled from the beginning.  Her two oldest sons have graduated from college and her youngest son and daughter are currently juniors at Bethel University.  Kim holds a current Minnesota teaching license in secondary mathematics has been an educator for over twenty years, as a public high school math teacher, a homeschooling mom, and a CHAT tutor.  She lives in Minnetonka and enjoys running, biking, music, and salsa dancing with her husband.
