Volunteer Teachers: We NEED YOU! Spring 2021 Classes

Spring 2021 Class Submission

Calling All Teachers ... We have decided to move forward with Spring 2021 classes as long as we can get the teachers needed.

So it is time to submit your classes for Spring 2021! Remember ALL of our co-op's classes are completely parent initiated and led by parent volunteers --- without your help, we have no classes!

Submit your classes by filling out the form through this link by Saturday November 7, 2020.

We will be offering an 8-week session on Tuesdays from February 16th to April 13th plus a presentation day on April 20th for a total of 9 weeks with a week off for spring break. Classes will be offered at Music Showcase as they were last year prior to COVID.

Come join our welcoming, inclusive family of homeschoolers! We’ve been helping homeschool families since 2016. We may be biased, but we believe we have the *best* group of kids and parents around! Teaching a co-op class comes with priority registration for classes. Being a volunteer teacher is also a great way to get your children into classes as a new family. Many of our families have joined the co-op in this way. Our awesome, low-cost classes fill up quickly, so that’s a pretty good perk.

Do I need to have a degree in my field to teach a class?
NO! Some of our teachers do, but many do not. You do not need to an expert to lead an excellent co-op class!

What kind of classes have been taught in the past?
Art, music, Spanish, sign language, sciences, history, and more! Click Here to see a list of some of our past classes.

READ ABOUT OUR STORY! We started small, and have grown exponentially! 100% volunteer work from EVERYONE INVOLVED has brought us to provide affordable and inclusive classes to many families, and now the Alliance for the Pursuit of Knowledge, Inc. is recognized as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization! This organization makes our Homeschool Learning Co-op possible.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to teach one or more classes are asked to complete the required information on this form by Saturday November 7, 2020 so that we can move forward with planning. As always, anyone stepping up to teach will be given priority registration for their children.

Fall 2020 - We are Taking a Break

Unfortunately we have opted not to hold the Fall 2020 semester.

As many of you know, we have tried to remain optimistic that a fall semester would happen. We have continued to work since February to try to recruit teachers and most recently find ways we can hold classes while maintaining the necessary Covid-19 precautions.

April 2020 - Class and Alliance Updates

We hope that everyone is safe and doing well in these uncertain times. We want to be sure to provide everyone with a complete update on where we stand as a group.

We have had to make some difficult decisions pertaining to our current spring classes and the upcoming fall semester.  We did not make these decisions lightly but rather with much research, feedback and discussion while keeping in mind the wellbeing of our families.

ALL APK Co-op/Alliance Activities Suspended

Based on the state guidelines, closing Florida schools for the next two weeks, all Alliance activities are suspended until at least 3/30 5/1. This includes classes and scheduled park days. We will address the remainder of the semester after March 30th May 1.  As this is an evolving situation, we don't know what this will look like but if it is possible to make up missed class days, we will do our best.

Teachers - we will be in contact with you early next week to discuss possible options going forward if the school suspension is lifted.

Parents - while the Alliance is canceling all classes and activities - this does not mean that you cannot contact friends to set up your own park days, hikes etc. This would be a great time to enjoy some much needed down time!
