General Information

Question

What is Wellspring?

Answer

We are a Christian homeschooling cooperative that offers academic classes for K-12 students.

Question

When does Wellspring meet? Where does Wellspring meet?

Answer

For the 2024-2025 academic year: Wellspring will meet in Normal on Thursdays.

Question

What are the community fees and how do I pay ?

Answer

Community fees are those fees that allow Wellspring to function.

When you sign up for the next school year, the initial $50 community fee is due. For families that have more than one child, additional registration dues are required. Families are charged $50 for each additional child, with a cap at three children. In other words, if you have 10 children, your community fee is the same as the family with three children.

When you log into your Homeschool-Life account, you will able to see the total due. You will also receive an invoice once you register for the upcoming school year. Community fees can be paid at Wellspring or by mailing your check to Wellspring (see Contact Us for address).

Question

Do you only take full-time enrollments?

Answer

Wellspring is created to be flexible for your family! It is ok to enroll in 1-5 classes. But we hope you'll stick around for lunch so we can get to know you and your family!

Question

How do tuition and supply fees work?

Answer

Classes are priced at a rate of $5 per hour. For example, an hour class will be $40 per quarter, plus any supply fees.

Question

Is Wellspring a drop-off program?

Answer

We are not a drop-off program for K-7th grade. Since we are a homeschool co-op, parental participation and availability are an important aspect of our co-op’s function and ensures safety for the children.

However, we do allow drop-off for children beginning in 8th grade if your child is able to follow the co-op's student rules. Parents of older children still have participation duties but not all these duties require attending co-op or are at the end of the day assisting with clean up.

Assignments

Question

Will my child have homework?

Answer

Yes. Wellspring teachers introduce new information to your students during class times on Thursdays. In order to have the optimum educatonal expierence at Wellspring, parents must work with their students throughout the week. Teachers provide students daily work and assignments that are due and brought to class the next week.

Question

Is my child required to do all assignments provided by their teacher?

Answer

As a homeschol parent, you provide the direction you feel is best for your child. If you choose to excuse an assignment, it is best to communicate that with your child's teacher via the teacher's email. Only parents are allowed to excuse an assignment and providing that in writing is best. However, also keep in mind excusing too many assignments will not provide the optimum educational experience for your child. Since our focus is on academics, completion of work is essential to the learning process when the class meets.

Question

Does the teacher assign grades?

Answer

For our students in sixth grade and above, teachers assign a numerical score to most assignments. Letter grades are not assigned and report cards are not provided. Homeschool parents can assign letter grades and give report cards at their discretion. For classes in which numerical scores are given, parents will be provided access to Homeschool-life class pages to see their child's scores.
