What is Wellspring?

We are a classical homeschool community that started in the fall of 2018. Wellspring brings families together on a weekly basis for the sake of working cooperatively in the teaching of our children through a classical education model. Wellspring exists as a community of families that each contributes in some way toward the education, socialization, safety, and well-being of our children.

Because our program relies on parental involvement, Wellspring is not a drop-off program.

Since Wellspring is a co-op and not a school, Wellspring families are to follow all state laws regarding homeschooling. Families are to notify their local superintendent either as a homeschooler or as a 08-private school. All educational responsibility falls to the parent, including the selection of classes, purchase of curriculum, keeping of records, and complying with all state homeschooling laws.

We are dedicated to bringing Biblical truth to our children in a clear and simple manner in order to help them live lives that glorify God.

Why Classical?

The Classical Model of education teaches the skills of learning, so students are able to learn for themselves in any area. The skills they learn during these formative years will allow them the freedom to tackle any subject in their adult lives. There are 3 stages of learning within the Classical Model: Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric, which are commonly referred to as the Trivium.

• Grammar Stage (grades K-6), students love to chant, sing songs, and memorize through repetition. This is an important stage in which students learn facts on which to build for later studies.

• Dialectic Stage (grades 4-8), students intuitively become more argumentative as they want to know “why”.In this stage, they are given tools to learn how to argue logically and thoughtfully.

• Rhetoric Stage (grades 8-12), students learn how to express themselves persuasively. They are logically able to communicate their message to others with wisdom and sound judgement.

These stages of learning are paired naturally with the student's developmental ages. As adults, the students will use all three stages each time they learn something new.

Why Claritas?

Claritas Publishing is a group of Bible-believing Protestants and Catholics who have written and compiled grammar stage memory work consisting of Scripture, Latin, English Grammar, Math, Science, History, Geography, Timeline, and Hymns with a goal of cultivating wisdom and virtue by nourishing the child’s soul on truth, goodness, and beauty so that, in Christ, the student is enabled to better know, glorify, and enjoy God.? Memory Work Guides and their accompanying audio align with four historical cycles: Ancients (Creation to The Fall of Rome), Middle Ages (Dark Ages to Explorers of the New World), Early Modern Times (The Dutch Revolt to The California Gold Rush), The Modern Era (The Victorians through Recent Times).
