Agnus Dei is an association of Catholic families who homeschool or who are considering home education.
Homeschooling hereafter is defined as a privately-led, parent-directed education, requiring eligibility standards as an independent private school or home-study program as specified by the Department of Education of the State of Louisiana, and shall include children who have not yet reached the age of mandatory state registration.
Our mission is to create a community which encourages our children to choose the path to Heaven by promoting faith and fellowship among Catholic homeschooling families. The members of Agnus Dei Catholic Home School Association, in accord with the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, freely associate themselves for the benefit of mutual support and service to meet the challenges of educating their young. This service includes, but is not limited to, providing spiritual, social, and educational activities that enhance the total homeschool experience of the family.
We believe that it is the right and obligation of each Catholic parent to educate his own children. We support Catholic home schools; we do not oppose “traditional” Catholic schools except in those instances where their practices are not in union with Rome.
Statement of Faith
“We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.”
Furthermore, we uphold all teachings, councils, doctrines, and dogmas of the Holy Roman Catholic Church as expressed by the Magisterium, without adding to or subtracting from any of Her teachings. Due to a great deal of confusion among Catholics today, we are compelled to mention some specifics. Our loyalty to Christ’s Church includes, but is not limited to, the following
- We fully believe in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
- We fully accept and embrace the great truth of the Church’s teachings on contraception, abortion and euthanasia.
- We accept the Church’s teachings regarding the sanctity of marriage.
- We accept the Church’s teachings regarding priestly celibacy and the ordination of women.
In communion with the Church and the Holy Father we seek to raise our children in accordance with this Faith.
