Do you wish you could speak clearly in front of your peers or groups of people with confidence? Do you love to dress up in a costume or use a different voice and “become someone else?” Do you wish you knew how to act in front of an audience without fear or nervousness?
This is the class for you! Enroll in this class and you will be sure to make new friends as you explore and study the world of DRAMA as an actor!
This class is for students who have never been on the stage AND experienced actors.
The purpose of this Theatre Arts/Drama Class will be to introduce students to as many aspects of drama as possible, to allow them to experience for themselves the diversity and excitement of theatre and drama and to encourage them to develop the love of theatre which is necessary for the successful productions of a play at any level.
Areas taught will include:
Beginning acting terms, theatre history, improvisation, emotional development of characters, articulation and diction skills, concentration, character development, solo performance for peers, working together as a cast, memorization skills, blocking, props and costumes, live performance for an audience.
Students will participate in hands-on exercises with Acting, Scene Work, Characterization, Games and Improvisation. The class will become a cast and scenes will be developed and rehearsed for a polished performance at the end of each semester.
This will be a high energy, fun class for all students with class participation for everyone!
Students will perform at the WEST SHOWCASE at the conclusion of both semesters.
Participation is required at the end of each semester performance.

Length: Year long classes; with the encouragement to stay in DRAMA and build skills year after year at WEST
Level: 6th-12th grade
Class Tuition: $180 per semester plus $25 supply fee
Class Size: Minimum 10 students
Homework: Will include some reading, possible projects and memorization of lines/scenes at home.
