CLASS TYPE: One Semester Course, SECOND SEMESTER ONLY, classes held every week.
CLASS SIZE: Minimum 8 students, maximum 18
PREREQUISITE: Must have taken Beginning Drawing AND Beginning and/or Advanced Pastels as well, either through WEST or another co-op, OR speak with instructor about other painting classes taken to obtain special permission.
DESCRIPTION: This is a new course for WEST this year. Students will be introduced to three new mediums: pen and ink, watercolor pencil, and compressed charcoal. Lessons will rotate through these mediums, beginning with the seven basic strokes of pen and ink, and incorporating watercolor into the pen and ink projects. Lessons will cover a wide variety of technique in all three mediums, from extremely detailed to more abstract. Students will also learn how these mediums have been used by famous artists of the past, as well as present-day applications.
REQUIREMENTS: Students will need to attend all classes if possible, complete all assigned projects, and prepare at least two pieces for final mounting and display at the year-end Spring Showcase. May require some work outside of class time.
CLASS FEE: $185.00 per semester plus supplies.
SUPPLIES: Everything listed below can be purchased through instructor in a bulk order to save costs, and any supplies from previous semesters can be used.
