CHEF is governed by a volunteer board of  veteran home educators from across Alabama.

Board of Directors

CHEF is governed by a self-perpetuating volunteer board of  veteran home educators from across Alabama. Board members serve as husband-and-wife teams. Each family unit on the board has been active in local leadership for a number of years and brings to the board a wealth of experience in Christian home education. Here is a brief introduction of our board members:

 

Mark and Pam Holden

The Holdens live in Jacksonville, Alabama.  They are the parents of seven children and have twelve grandchildren.  Mark and Pam began home educating in 1984 and are still actively home schooling.  They have been active in home education support and leadership for over three decades.  

Mark and Pam own and manage a manufactured home park in Jacksonville.  They are both involved in leadership roles at Redeemer Church in Oxford, AL. The Holdens began serving on the CHEF Board in 2016.

 

Ron and Debbie Landry

Ron currently serves as President of CHEF of Alabama. Debbie serves as Treasurer.

Ron and Debbie Landry have graduated three homeschooled students. They are the proud grandparents of five. Ron recently retired from a 34 year career with the Air National Guard; Debbie runs Crossroads Christian School in Moody, Alabama.

 

Scott and Jacki Riley

Scott and Jacki have been married for 26 years.  They began home schooling in the fall of 1995.  They have 5 daughters ages 23-12.  Three are home school graduates and their oldest daughter graduates from Auburn University, with honors in May.  Scott works for Regions Bank in the corporate real estate division.  Jacki has been at home since 1989.

 

Anthony and Debra Swartzendruber

Anthony currently serves as Vice President of CHEF of Alabama.  Together they serve as Exhibit Hall Coordinators for the annual convention. 

Anthony and Debra are from Atmore, Alabama where Anthony works in drafting and sales at a metal fabrication company and serves as an assistant pastor at Mennonite Christian Fellowship. The Swartzendrubers have four children, three of whom are homeschool graduates.  They have been home schooling 15 years.  Anthony and Debra serve as administrators for Precept Christian School.

 

Eric and Sherri Swinney

The Swinneys are from Harvest, Alabama where Eric has served as the associate pastor at New Life Baptist Church and is the headmaster at Life Christian Academy since 2006. Sherri keeps the home while also home schooling their three oldest children. They began serving on the CHEF board in 2013.

 

Rusty and Phyllis Tate

The Tates currently live in Valley, Alabama where Rusty is the pastor of Langdale United Methodist Church. Rusty and Phyllis are the parents of four and grandparents of six. They began homeschooling in 1990 and joined the CHEF board in 2004. Phyllis currently serves as Convention Coordinator.

 

Gus and Irene Tucker

The Tuckers are from Huntsville, Alabama.  They are the proud parents of five children.  They have been home schooling for over seven years.  Gus is a college professor and Irene has been at home since 2005.  The Tuckers are actively involved and committed to Christian Home Education.  They began serving on the CHEF board in 2013. The Tuckers are also board members of National Black Home Educators (NBHE). Gus is currently serving as the NBHE President.
