2014 Patriot Cross Country Season Comes to an End
Our Patriots finished off this cross country season with some great meets where they all performed with a final burst of passion and energy. The Judson ISD meet was a dusty race against tough competition (1300 runners) through which our runners audaciously endured. Arianna Farias (7th grade) placed 8th in the JV division with a time of 22:21, and Emily Shands (8th grade) placed 17th with 22:46, leading the JV girls to an 8th place finish over all!
We had a fantastic meet at TLU on a cool day and a pleasant course. Garrett Solombrino finished 4th with a time of 18:49, leading the JV boys team to a 7th place position over all. The JV girls’ team came in 3rd. The MS girls team lead by Arianna Farias, 6th place (12:59) and Emily Shands, 15th place (14:08) came in 5th overall. The MS boys took 5th place as well.
Our middle school team had a great showing at the ISAL district championship meet at Olmos Basin Sports Park. All of our athletes ran very well and many got PR's! Arianna Farias, 2nd place (9:24); Emily Shands, 4th place (9:46); Matthew Shands, 11th place (9:08).
To celebrate our blessed season, the entire team, families and all, got together for an evening of food and fun at the End-of-Season Fellowship, Oct 27th. Everyone had a blast as we commemorated the achievements of teammates and the hard work of so many others who came together to make this season one of the greatest yet!
As many of our athletes prepare for this coming season of Track & Field, several of our track coaches including Coach Jones are leading pre-season workouts at Lopez Middle School and Johnson High School for both sprinters and distance runners.
