“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1
This is when champions are made. To be successful in the Fall season, players MUST be working hard during the off season to get bigger, stronger and faster. This is particularly true for the high school program, but the principle is true for the middle school program as well. This requires developing a level of maturity for the young men to set goals and work diligently. Playing time and success in games typically have a high correlation or relationship to the amount of work and effort one puts in during the off season.
What workouts should you be doing? Think legs and lungs. Develop more strength in your legs and core through weight training and short, intense workouts such as T25 or Insanity. Also build aerobic endurance through short distance running such as 1-2 miles as well as adding sprints of 20 - 40 yards. Finally, agility is always a great quality to have. Balance and quick footwork are key advantages.
