SIGN UP and SEND A CHECK or Pay On-Line

If you would like to be included in the 2013 PSG Senior Graduation Ceremony, then please SIGN UP with Kelly Fifelski at fifebunch@yahoo.com or 954 257 6858 by May 1st. SEND A CHECK for $45 (made out to Broward Homeschool PSG) to Kelly Fifelski at 9241 NW 24 Ct. Sunrise, FL 33322. The nominal fee will go toward, but not cover, the cost of the speaker, building rental, leather diploma binder, decorations, paper goods, cake, and punch. The PSG will cover the remainder of the cost.

PURCHASE A CAP AND GOWN

Plan to purchase your cap and gown at least one month before graduation. You may choose whatever color you wish as this is not a mass school graduation, but a unique combination of individual homeschool graduates. Caps and gowns can be purchased from:

SUBMIT 15 PHOTOGRAPHS

Email fifteen pictures to fifebunch@yahoo.com , starting with a baby picture, ranging through the school years, and ending with a senior picture, for the slideshow which will take place during the ceremony.

The deadline to send in your pictures is May 1st, 2013.

 

EMAIL YOUR BIOGRAPHY

Write a 100-word bio about yourself (written in the third person) which will be read by the Master of Ceremony to introduce you to the audience while your parents are coming up on stage to present you with your diploma. Make sure you write your full name, as you would like to see it written on your graduation diploma, at the top of your biography. Also, please write your parents’ first and last names as they would like them to be announced.

NOTE: Please put your bio in a WORD document and use a font size of 22 to make it easier for our MC to read.

This is a very special opportunity for those attending the graduation to be encouraged by your God-given talent, so don’t be tempted to keep it to yourself!

PREPARE YOUR SENIOR DISPLAY

On graduation day, a table will be provided for you to display items that are special to you or that are an expression of who you are, a sort of visual “story” about yourself. One idea that’s been done in the past is to use a science fair project board decorated with awards, arts and crafts, projects, pictures, mementoes, school work, extracurricular activities, sports, fine arts, and anything else that would aptly describe your life. This could also include K-12 accomplishments and whatever else you wish to showcase. Some have also displayed things such as a sword, a violin, a football, and other items that paint a picture. You may be as creative as you would like to be. The display is limited to 1/2 of a 6 ft. table.

IMPORTANT GRADUATION DAY REMINDERS

REQUIRED DRESS REHEARSAL

There will be a required dress rehearsal at Victory Life Church on graduation day, Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. Each graduate MUST arrive on time. The rehearsal is important as it acquaints graduates with the upcoming program and helps to ensure that the ceremony runs smoothly. Near the end of the rehearsal, time will be set aside for graduates to set up their display tables. Please come prepared so that this can be done as quickly and efficiently as possible. NOTE: It is very important that everyone arrive promptly at 9:30 a.m. as there is a lot to get accomplished in a very short space of time.

PICTURE TAKING

Pictures will be taken by a volunteer photographer between 10:45a.m – 12:15p.m. (right after the dress rehearsal). For those of you who would like a family photo with your graduate, all family members to be included MUST be ready to take pictures promptly at 11:00 a.m. All pictures taken on the day will be emailed to each graduate as a keepsake. Single graduate shots, group shots of the entire graduating class, and family photos will be included.

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE & CHANGE OF CLOTHES

The recommended dress for graduating senior men is shirt, tie, and dress shoes. Ladies should preferably wear a dress and dress shoes or nice sandals. (No jeans, t-shirts, and/or sneakers please.) If you are not coming to the dress rehearsal in the clothes that you plan to wear at the graduation ceremony, we would recommend that you bring your graduation clothes and graduation gown on a hanger in a garment bag so that they won’t get crushed and will be easy to access. Also, put on makeup and do your hair BEFORE you get to the dress rehearsal, as there will be no time for these once you arrive.

BAG LUNCH

The graduate should bring a bag lunch to eat before the ceremony begins as there will be no time to go out for lunch. You will be able to take time for a quick lunch at some point during the course of the morning before the graduation ceremony commences.

GRADUATION CEREMONY

The graduation ceremony will commence promptly at 12:30 p.m. Please encourage family and friends to arrive 15 minutes early so that they can be seated before the ceremony begins. Pictures and videos may be taken during the ceremony from a discreet distance, however, please be considerate when you use flashes and when you move in order to get into a good position for picture taking.

PARENT SHARING TIME

Each set of parents will be allotted 2 minutes (per family, not per person) to briefly share words of encouragement, thankfulness, and/or inspiration before they present a diploma to their graduate. This has always been a very unique and touching part of the ceremony. However, it is important that the time limit be strictly adhered to as going overtime will end up extending the program.

GRADUATION RECEPTION

Light refreshments – cake and punch – will be served at the reception. You are welcome to invite friends and family to the graduation ceremony and reception, however we do need for you to give us an estimate of how many guests you think will be coming so that we can purchase enough food and drinks for the reception.
