CFS Poway's Co-op offers a wide variety of classes for all ages. We meet for 32 weeks of the year on Thursdays at a church in Poway from about 8:30 to 4:45. The co-op packet for fall comes out in mid-July and is automatically e-mailed to our members. We also have a Spring packet which is published in December and lists new classes beginning in January as well those which will accept students mid-year.
Most of our classes are parent-taught, but we also have a few paid teachers from the community including Guitar teacher Jeff Bishop, Language Arts instructor Pamela Hunt, Dance teacher Anna Fowler, Kristin McCrary from AB Fine Art Studio, and Missy Schick from Science2U. The length of classes vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours. The cost also varies - from free for a few parent-taught classes, to as much as $450 per year for a highschool science class with lab.
A facility fee of $30 per year is collected for families enrolling one student, or $50 per year for families enrolling 2 or more children. This fee is waived for parent teachers who donate their time to teach or for those who take on significant roles in managing co-op. For families who join for Spring semester only, the fee is $15 for one child, or $25 for those enrolling 2 or more children.
We can email you our most recent co-op packet on request. Although it may be out-of-date it will give you an idea of how our co-op operates. If you have an idea for a co-op class, have a teacher to refer, or would like to teach a class or have other questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
