INTRODUCTION TO ACTING
Jay Hair will be teaching both Introduction to Acting I and Introduction to Acting II this coming semester through the James River Home School Academy. You must be a member to register for any academic classes, but membership is free.
Introduction to Acting I covers the very basics of acting and stage presentation. It is designed for those with little or no acting experience.
Introduction to Acting II is a continuation of Introduction to Acting I, and will cover scene study, script analysis, the auditioning process, as well as covering voice, and stage presence. There also will be a play presented at the conclusion of the semester, which will involve live auditions and rehearsals.
Textbook used will be Introduction to Acting, by Stanley Kahan (4th edition), although purchase of the textbook is not required.
Classes are open for those in grades 6-12 and will be held at the JRHSF Campus located at 7401 Elkhardt Rd in Northern Chesterfield.
Instructor Jay Hair graduated from Liberty University, and has been teaching drama, writing and directing skits, plays, etc. for over 24 years, as well as overseeing his church drama and theatre teams. He has also been in the following movies: Evan Almighty, Unanswered Prayers, and most recently, Spielberg’s movie, Lincoln. In addition, Jay played Luigi in CounterAct's very successful run of it's dinner theater production of Meet Me at Luigi's.
