AMAZING RAISE - 5K

We are just starting to get the word out about our participation with Richmond's Amazing Raise, a 36-hour online giving challenge that will take place September 18th to September 19th; and the companion 5K run on Wednesday at 6pm at the Boulders, which I wanted to "run" by all of you!

The gist of the Amazing Raise is that from 6AM on Wednesday, September 18th through 6PM on Thursday, September 19th, the general public and more specifically our members, friends, and families, etc., are encouraged to make online credit card donations to pre-appoved local charities of which we are one.

If any of you are a runner and would be interested in participating as an individual or as a team in the Amazing Raise 5K at the Boulders, here's the link and some additional information.

The Amazing Raise 5K at the Boulders is open to the public. Registration is available for both individuals (ages 5 and up) and teams, with prizes in both categories. For serious runners, it will be a qualified run that will allow for special pre-qualifications for future races in the area, such as the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K.

Team registration is encouraged, as it is a great way to demonstrate unified support for your favorite local charity. Teams must include a minimum of 3 people; no maximum. The first team member to register as a group will be designated as the race captain, and will have the opportunity to invite others to join. The team captain should be prepared to provide a team name, as well as the charity that your group would designate to receive a grant prize if your team wins.

A portion of every registration for the Amazing Raise 5K as well as sponsorships from local businesses, will fund grant prizes that will allow runners (and in some cases, the general public) an opportunity to compete on behalf of their favorite charities. There are both individual and team prizes available. Winners will designate an Amazing Raise charity to receive their prize of up to $1,000.

18-30 years old 31-40 41-50 51-60 61-70+

Fastest Male & Female – $500 each

Awarded to the fastest male and female, K through 12 (under 18 years old).

Fastest Team – $1,000

Sponsored by Brandywine Realty Trust. Awarded to the team that has the lowest average time of its 3 fastest team members.

Largest Team – $1,000

Sponsored by OrthoVirginia. Awarded to the largest team, based on the number of team members present on race day.

Most Spirited Team – $1,000

Sponsored by The Lingerfelt Companies. Awarded to the team that best demonstrates enthusiasm for their favorite local charity. This contest will be judged by a panel of judges consisting of Brandywine and Lingerfelt employees.

Random Registrants (5) – $500 each Sponsored by Virginia Credit Union. Five registered runners will be chosen at random based on assigned bib numbers.

Warm-Up Prize 5–6 pm $1,000 Sponsored by Trane. A donor who makes a donation during this time will be randomly chosen and $1,000 will be added to their donation.

Finish Line 7:30–8pm $1,000 Sponsored by nTelos Wireless. Awarded to the organization that receives the most donations during this time.

Cool Down Prize 8–9 pm $1,000 Sponsored by Birchwood at Boulders Apartments. A donor who makes a donation during this time will be randomly chosen and $1,000 will be added to their donation.

More prizes may be added as additional sponsors are confirmed.

HOW TO REGISTER
There's only a week before pre-registration ends. Online registration will close at 11:59 pm on Friday, September 13, 2013. Walk-up registration will be available at Packet Pickup on Tuesday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 18. For times and location, please see Race Details.

Please note that if you wish to compete for timed prizes, record your race time or qualify for future races, you must purchase a Chronotrack B-tag at an additional charge as noted below.
