NOTICE - IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ:

Kingdom Builders is a nonprofit corporation with minimal assets, as such, all members expressly release and hold harmless Kingdom Builders from any and all liability for acts or omissions giving rise to loss. All members agree that they will assume all responsibility for any losses, attributable to Kingdom Builders or its agents or officers, which occur during, or as a result of, Kingdom Builders sponsored events or activities.

KINGDOM BUILDERS EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PARENT:

  • The workload is equally shared by all as each parent does his or her part.
  • When you bring your children to co-op, you will need to spend the day there at the church with them. Your presence is vital to the success of the co-op day.
  • Your time at co-op will be scheduled and divided between parents support time and as a teacher’s assistant in the classroom.
  • When you are assigned to a class, you are expected to assist the teacher during class time and handle all class discipline. We want the teachers to have the freedom to teach and not spend class time keeping order.
  • If you are unable to attend a scheduled co-op day, it is your responsibility to notify at least one of the Administrators as soon as possible and, when possible, to schedule substitutes for your slots for that coop day from the support list for that day.
  • Illness and Maternity leave are the only excused absences.
  • A parent from each family (typically the one attending co-op) is also expected to serve on a co-op committee(s). Further explanations are on the committee form that you will fill out and send in with this registration form. If you would like further definition about a committee position, feel free to call Rachel Larson at 952-892-5336 and she will answer your questions.

I have read the above and I will to the best of my ability meet these expectations:

Kingdom Builders Committees

Each parent must serve on at least one of the following committees. Please note that there is a value assigned to each committee position. The goal for each parent is to be assigned a value of 4 or above, either by choosing one committee position with more responsibility or a combination of two or three that have less responsibility. Below is a brief description of the duties with each position.

Value 4: Timeline-- all year
____Field Trips Value 4: Possible 3 parent committee. Research, coordinate and schedule 2 field trips per month. This also includes making up the sign-up sheets, marketing it to the group, collecting the money, and being available on the trip as a leader. Field trip committee members will divide the tasks by choosing which field trips they'd like to manage.

____Scheduler Value 4: This person would provide several copies of a printed schedule for each co-op day. The tasks involved would be to organize parent helpers in all the classes, support leaders etc. A sample schedule would be provided and updates would be made every co-op day.

____Club Time Coordinator Value 4: This position coordinates the different clubs, making sure there is something available for all ages and interests. This person also finds student leaders, guiding them in leadership training. In addition, the person must be available during club time to monitor students and answer any questions that arise.

____Yearbook Value 4:  For this position we are looking for someone who has an interest in computer-aided page designing. Throughout the year, they will gather a lot of photographs from the other parents in the co-op and they will be responsible to choose the ones that go in the yearbook. The yearbook is handed out at the Yearbook party mid June. Their job includes arranging the photos on each page in a creative manor. A good PC, creativity and computer skills are necessary for this job.

____Preschool Art Value 4: This position would require the parent to formulate and teach a simplified art curriculum each co-op day for one hour. Preschool supplies are a budgeted expense.

____Assembly Committee Value 4: This committee will organize the morning assembly and will gather any supplies needed for assembly. This committee organizes student participation sign-up sheets for: Oral presentations, president, flag bearer, prayer person and Bible reading. There would be two parents on this committee.

___ Parent’s Time Coordinator Value 4: This parent would be responsible for providing a sign- up sheet and a reminder email for parents to bring snacks to the support room each co-op. Then they would email out the request to the group following each co-op. The coordinator is responsible to set out paper products for support time, make coffee and buying supplies as needed. The last responsibility is to come up with parent support topics to be discussed during support time. The topics would be announced in the email update prior to co-op.

____Kid's Snack Coordinator Value 4: The kids will have a snack in the morning between 1st and 2nd hour classes. This parent would bring a snack for all the kids to eat (quickly and without a mess) before their next class. Distribution and clean-up will also be your responsibility. These snacks are a budgeted item and would include nursery children also. A list of snack ideas will be provided.

 Value 2 & 3: Timeline--all year

____Oral Challenge Value 3:  The work on this project begins in the summer and tasks include: designing the challenge to compliment the theme of the year with age/grade level requirements, making photo copy handouts for our parents' orientation meeting held at summer's end, leading the event, and coordinating the parent helpers. Ribbons/Certificates will be given out as awards and results will be acknowledged at the Spring Extravaganza so the results will need to be reported to the Ribbon and Awards Coordinator.

____Ribbon and Award Coordinator Value 2:  Ribbons/Certificates are given out throughout the year as awards from the Bees and Challenges. Results need to be recorded as they will be acknowledged at the Spring Extravaganza. The coordinator will need to consult the treasurer regarding the budgeted allotment for ribbons and purchase ribbons and certificates of achievement as needed for the KB inventory. There might be a need for other types of awards throughout the year so there would be a need to call around to local businesses (Dairy Queen, McDonalds) asking them to donate items/gift certificates to be handed out to the students as they participate in extra curricular events throughout the year.  This can be a very rewarding job.

____Fundraisers Value 2: Each year we try to have a fundraiser for KB families to aid in their tuition costs.  This parent's tasks would include working with the fund raising company, handing out the items to be sold, collecting the money and keeping track of who sold what and how many. This is not a difficult job but it does require some organization and some math skills.  A new member could handle this job easily and you would have the benefit of getting to know all of the co-op members right away. This is done in the fall and spring as well.

Value 2: Timeline—early in the year

____Preschool Coordinator Value 2: This position would require the parent to create a sign-up sheet to give the opportunity for parents to teach at least one hour during the co-op year.  ____Science Fair Value 2: KB Students are encouraged to participate in our science fair and art fair, which are usually held on separate dates in the spring.  Responsibilities include: overseeing sign-ups in the winter, acquiring a judge as needed and working with them on judging/criteria sheets and making photo copies, tallying scores and writing a thank-you to the judge. Ribbons will be given out as awards for the science fair and results will be acknowledged at the Spring Extravaganza so the results will need to be reported to the Ribbon and Awards Coordinator.

____Party/Event Planning Value 2: Each year we have a few parties for the whole co-op. These include the Christmas party and the Valentine party. Duties would include purchasing budgeted supplies, activities- games and crafts, and organizing a sign-up sheet for food etc. They will also have to collect money for the parties from the parents and communicate details that the parents will need to know.

Parents who like P.E. do well at this job.

**In May, we have a year-end extravaganza that includes a Variety Show, award ceremony, a display area with the students’ projects and a light lunch or dessert.  This is a culminating event for students and their parents, grandparents, and other important guests. Below are the committees needed for this event with specific responsibilities to each area.  Parents working on the following committees will work together.
