The FHE Rally is Tuesday, March 6th. I think everyone knows how important it is to try to be there and to make contact with your legislators. Kerrie and I are wondering how many SHARE families we can count on? Please email me back if you are planning to attend.
We did not plan any special activities or lunch get-togethers. We figure that we will all be getting there at various times and will have different time slots scheduled to meet with our legislators. We didn't want to interfere with anyone's plans. Just make sure you get there in time for the rally. Below is an update from FHE with some last minute details.
Last year I was on a quest to see 25 families from our area in Jeff City. We were successful! Let's try again this year!!! As you know from reading previous e-mails, it's a great educational opportunity for your children. Here's a link to some things to do while you are in Jeff City: http://visitjeffersoncity.com/
Oh, and by the way, the legislators love gifts! I always stop at a really cool truck stop in Kingdom City (when you exit Hwy 70 and get on 54) and buy them some fudge! They have great fudge there---lots of different flavors and I believe they make it on site!

Make a difference by joining home educators from across
the state of Missouri at FHE's annual Rally at the Capitol.
FHE's Rally allows home educators to:
· Hear from and meet our own registered lobbyist and legislators.
· Express our appreciation to legislators who are supportive of home education.
· Build good will between home educators and their legislators by giving legislators a "face" to put on home education issues.
· Ask for continued support of home education.
· Present a unified front with the legislature.
· Learn about the current status of legislative bills that could affect home education.
· Set the stage to be better prepared in case of another legislative "emergency."
Plan now to attend, to make your presence and interests known.
The actual Rally will begin at 12 Noon. Parking around the capitol is limited, you may have to walk some distance and park on the street. There are some parking meters with 2 hour limits near the capitol.
FHE will have promotional items for homeschool families to deliver to their lawmakers' offices before and after the Rally. A table will be available in the rotunda for these items.
During the Rally, homeschoolers will perform, and home educating families will have an opportunity to hear from legislators, as well as the FHE lobbyist and Executive Director.
Dress should be neat, and business casual. Please do not take strollers into the small legislative offices, because of crowding. Many legislators share their offices. This is a place of business and we will be there during regular office hours.
You may wish to make an appointment with your legislator before going to the capitol. Also, tours of the capitol are held throughout the day.
The Rally will last from noon-1PM. FHE board members will be in the rotunda to answer your questions from 11-1.
