In PA, in Feb, the weather can be anything so we made this teen event virtual. Join us to learn about a seldom-heard-of career field: restoration. I like this definition of restoration: a return of something to a former, original, normal, or unimpaired condition.
Have you ever heard of a house being “restored?” It is a job frequently needed after a disaster: either by fire or water, and sometimes it needs to be done simply due to age. But … how DO they do that? How do they get the smoke smell out of a building that’s been burnt? How do they repair water damage? What if the building is considered historical, as in many of the homes in Gettysburg, is there a difference between a “normal” restoration and an “historical” restoration?
Join us to learn the answers to these questions and many others. Tuckey Restoration will begin by telling us about their business and how it got started. They will help us understand exactly what “restoration" is and will describe the various jobs and skills necessary to complete a restoration (it’s more than you think). They will also explain what education or experiences a student would need in order to get into this career field and what they look for in an employee.
