Hello, and welcome to the LCHEA website! We are a non-profit, Christian support group established for homeschooling parents in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We have been in existence for over 30 years and our purpose is to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to one another based on Christian principles. These principles are outlined in our Statement of Faith. Among the many things offered to LCHEA members are field trip opportunities for every age group, spelling bee, testing, prom, father/daughter dance, clubs, STEM Expo, yearbook, graduation and much, much more!
Please note, LCHEA is a homeschool support group only and it does not give you legal homeschooling status in the state of South Carolina. Please refer to the SC Homeschool Laws page to learn more of the three options available within our state.
Take some time to browse through our public page information to learn more about who we are and what is available for your family. If you feel that LCHEA may be a good fit for you, please consider joining us for the school year.
Membership to LCHEA is $45 per current school year for the whole family. Please note that our active year runs from June 1st-May 31st. All yearly memberships end on May 31st of the current school year, regardless of join date. Membership fees are not refundable.
REGISTRATION for the 2022-23 School Year will Open on JUNE 1st, 2022.
RENEWING - RETURNING MEMBERS
Our database was purged on August 1st to get ready for the 2022-23 school year.
If you did not renew prior to that date, please click the "join" button in the top right corner and renew as a new member. (It looks like a person with a plus symbol on your phone.) Once you have completed the form and paid your yearly dues, your membership will be active within 24-48 hours.
Membership into LCHEA is $45 per year and runs through May 31st of the current school year, regardless of the date you join. Membership fees are not refundable.
Looking forward to another great year with your family!
Rising Senior Meeting for 2024 Graduates
April 4 – Rising Senior Meeting
Do you have a rising senior this year? A homeschool student who is planning to graduate with LCHEA in the Class of 2024?
We are hosting an information meeting designed for current juniors and their parents to talk about many important details and deadlines regarding their upcoming senior year. Things discussed will include senior photos, yearbook participation requirements, graduation, and other senior year items.
This is a great way to get an overview of what the senior year will look like. (If you wait until October to think about graduation and yearbook, you will have already missed important deadlines.)
Please plan to join us and bring your questions. The meeting is FREE and you can RSVP by EMAILING US HERE.
Even if you have had a senior in previous years, you should make plans to attend this meeting. A few things will be different next year so please come out and hear about them!

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Standardized Testing Option
Some of you may have missed the Stanford testing option. You might need a standardize test score to join an organization, like National Homeschool Honor Society. That requires your student to have test results, where a parent is not the test facilitator.
BJU Press is offering Standardize Testing via the computer, from your home. It is very affordable, at $35, or $55 with the CogAT test.
Please click on their logo to be redirected to their website for more information:
- Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will open on June 1st, 2022. After June 1st, there will be a "join" link in the upper right hand corner. Please know that your membership will not be active until membership fees are submitted. (On your phone, the "join" icon is a person profile with a plus sign.)
- Membership to LCHEA is $45 per family. Registration is non-refundable.
- The current LCHEA membership year ends on May 31st, 2023.
Thank You - Morningstar Storage
Please note that LCHEA is a support group,
NOT an accountability group.
An accountability group is an organization you must join to be legally homeschooling in the state of South Carolina. There are many options, please see THIS PAGE for more details.
A support group is an optional organization you may join to add enrichment to your homeschool experience. They add opportunities for field trips, extracurricular classes, play dates, events, and more. There are many benefits to joining a support group, but a support group is optional. Please see THIS PAGE for the benefits of joining LCHEA.
