FEAST is happy to be offering the home school community standardized testing again this year. Testing is not required by the state of Texas for home schoolers, FEAST offers this as a service only. Space is very limited, and registration will be accepted on a first come/first registered basis.
Verification: Each student testing as a home educated student must be verified by their parent/guardian. This year when you fill out the online or in-store registration, you are verifying that the student you are registering is indeed being educated at home.
Register Online: Click here. No late registrations will be accepted. You will receive a confirmation by email within 2 days after the registration deadline and an email with instructions 1 week before the testing dates. Listed below are the answers to the most frequently asked questions concerning this testing.
What do the tests cover? The Stanford test evaluates students in the following areas: Word Study Skills · Reading Skills/ Comprehension · Vocabulary · Mathematics · Language · Spelling · Social Studies · Science · Listening
Calculators? Testing rules dictate that use of a calculator is optional for all grades, and the option will be the student’s, not the administrator’s. Although it is the opinion of the test supplier that calculators not be used in grades 3-5, your children will be compared to students that may have used a calculator while testing. Please discuss this option with your child prior to testing. Students must bring their own calculator if they choose to exercise this option. Testers will not be able to assist with calculator malfunctions, nor will spare calculators be available for testing use.
Makeup Tests? We realize that emergencies arise, children get sick, cars break down, etc., but it is cost and time prohibitive for us to offer makeup test dates for only a few children. Therefore, there will be no makeup tests.
Refunds? Partial refunds of testing fees will be given if your student missed, and did not begin his or her test, due to a medical emergency. In order to receive any refund, you will need to provide a written doctor’s excuse. You must notify the FEAST office the day of the test if possible.
When will the test results arrive? It normally takes 6–8 weeks to process the test results. We will email you a notification when your results are returned to FEAST. You may pick those up at the FEAST office at your earliest convenience.
Can I stay and wait for my child? Yes, please be our guest. You may enjoy the morning browsing in our bookstore or relax in the testing waiting area. No one will be allowed to walk or play near the testing rooms. We are striving to provide the best testing atmosphere for your child.
