*Lowcountry Christian Home Educators Association*
We are a non-profit, Christian support group established for home-educating parents in the Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties of South Carolina. Formed in 1988 by 20 homeschooling families, we have now grown to over 400!
Our purpose is to provide support, guidance, and encouragement to one another as home educators based on closely held Christian principles. These principles are outlined in our Statement of Faith.
Please note, LCHEA is a homeschool support group and does not replace your abiding by the SC Homeschool Laws by having legal status using one of the three options available.
We invite you to join us in enjoying Christian homeschool support through the many LCHEA activities and meetings offered to you. Field Trips, Parent Get-togethers, Park Days, Spelling Bees, and much, much more! We experience homeschool life together as we share in Christian fellowship with one another.
Take some time to browse through our public page information (right here!) to learn more about who we are and what is available for your family. Did you know that we have groups in FIVE areas of the lowcountry? East Cooper, Goose Creek, North Charleston, Summerville, and West Ashley. Choose the group that works best for you!
If you feel that LCHEA may be a good fit for your family, please consider joining us for the 2015-2016 school year.
We hold Orientations several times throughout the year. This event is a way in which we can answer questions for new members, established members wanting to become more comfortable with the logistics of homeschooling, and/or people considering homeschooling. It is an overview not an end all. You do not need to be nor do you need to choose to be a member of LCHEA. It is simply a service we offer to the community.
At the event we will go over SC Law as pertains to Homeschool, support groups and accountability groups in the area, as well as other means of Homeschool support. We will also field your questions.
There will be short talks by several homeschoolers. These may or may not include:
From a High school students perspective
Food for Thought from a Middle School student
Life of a Mom who is handling several different grades
Family transitioned from Public to Homeschool successfully
Important views from Dad
Alumni Mom or Student success stories
Please understand that child care is NOT provided but snacks WILL be provided. If you do need to bring a child, please bring a quiet activity for them
Check back at the beginning of July for our schedule of Orientations for the year.
