2024 Prom Guidelines

Our Prom is a formal homeschool event sponsored by CHEFS & Encouragement; therefore, it will be governed according to the rules and regulations that have been established by CHEFS and Encouragement.

The Prom will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. Students will not be allowed to leave the ballroom once they have entered without the permission of parent or chaperone before 9 p.m. Parents must call the Prom coordinator to confirm early exit from Prom. We have this rule to keep your kids safe. Please text Sarah Clements at 832-499-3528 if your child needs to leave before 9 p.m.


Ticket sales:

Deadline for purchase of early bird tickets is February 29, 2024. 

Early bird pricing (CHEFS member): $65/Student

Early bird pricing (non-CHEFS member): $75/Student


Tickets purchased on or after March 1, 2024:

CHEFS member: $75/student

Non-CHEFS member: $85/student

General Guidelines:

  • Chaperones must stay for the entire event, including clean-up. There will be assigned jobs that you will be expected to execute. Please sign up under the chaperone event listing on the calendar.  
  • Refunds will not be issued if you are not able to attend the prom or if you are not admitted due to dress code violations or our conduct policy.
  • Students may sell their tickets to other students with the approval of the prom coordinator.
  • Students will not be able to purchase tickets unless he or she has agreed to the 2024 Prom Guidelines.

General Rules:

  1. Students must be listed as 7th-12th grade. Homeschool graduates (Alumni) are welcome to attend if they have graduated in the last three years and do not exceed 21 years of age.
  2. Registration online must be submitted by every student and chaperone attending. There will be a check-in at the event. No tickets will be sold at the door.
  3. Students may invite non-homeschoolers with the understanding that the guests must also follow all guidelines set forth and complete a registration form. It is your responsibility to make certain that your guest is advised of these rules.


Dress Code:

All adults, students, and guests that attend CHEFS Prom must be properly dressed according to the CHEFS Dress code. When you purchase your ticket, you are agreeing to come in attire that conforms to the dress code. Prom is a formal affair where formal attire is expected. Be modest and always consider your brothers and sisters in Christ. It is unfair to the students who abide by the dress code to allow people in that have ignored it.  

To help students understand what is expected, we provide the following guidelines:

Gentlemen:

  1. Tuxedos preferred. Suits allowed (Jacket required)
  2. Collared, button-down shirt is required.
  3. Bow tie or other formal necktie is required.
  4. Not allowed: T-shirts, Jeans, Dockers, Khakis

Ladies:

  1. Dress length must be fingertip length or below
  2. No bare or exposed midriffs.
  3. Backless gowns - fabric must start at the natural waistline and not gape or billow.
  4. Navels and cleavage may not be exposed (no plunging necklines)
  5. Sheer fabric that reveals body parts is not allowed.
  6. Attire that has a matching jacket must meet the guidelines with and without the jacket on.
  7. Slits in the dress that extend 2’’ or more above the kneecap are not allowed.
  8. Strapless gowns need to extend to the top of the armpit and cover all cleavage.  Wardrobe malfunctions while dancing increase greatly with strapless dresses (it has happened and it is embarrassing!).

If you are unsure if your outfit will fit the dress code - err on the side of caution.

Conduct Policy:

  • Excessive flirting/stalking during an event - All teens should be able to attend an event without worrying about the conduct of the other participants. Please advise your young men and ladies that this is not the time to ask for phone numbers, emails, and/or "pick-up" a girl/boy.  
  • Public displays of affection between couples: Hand holding is allowed but anything further than that (kissing, etc.) is not publicly acceptable. 
  • Smoking of legal or illegal substances is strictly prohibited. Vaping is prohibited.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages, mood modifiers, or illegal drugs is prohibited.
  • Underage alcohol consumption and/or use of illegal drugs are acts that are punishable by law. Any attendees caught participating in these acts will be dealt with according to law enforcement and the student’s parents will be notified.
