FAQs

FAQ

Q:

How many students are in a typical class?

A:

Class sizes will be limited by each instructor and will be directed towards specific grades only. Classes often range in size from 6-22 students, but most instructors prefer classes with 10-18 students.

Q:

Is my money refundable?

A:

No. All deposits and registration fees are non-refundable if you were to cancel your student or family. However, if Anchored Academy must cancel a class for any reason those classes WILL be refunded.  Any family dropping out after classes are underway will not be refunded any money paid.

Q:

What happens if a class is canceled due to not having the minimum students?

A:

All deposits will be refunded if Anchored cancels a class for lack of students.

Q:

Can I place my child ahead a grade?

A:

Typically the answer is no, though there may be an occasional exception.  We like for students to stay with their grade so as they move forward they can follow along a typical or advanced track. High school classes are reserved for high school students only.

Q:

Is Anchored Academy faith based?

A:

Yes.  The majority of our classes will be taught from a biblical perspective using faith based curriculum.

Q:

Do parents have to remain on site or volunteer in any way?

A:

Parents can drop their students off and do not need to remain on site.  However, parents ARE required to help one day per semester for approximately 2 hours.  Failure to do so will result in your family not being allowed to return to Anchored Academy.

Q:

What activities do you offer outside of classes?

A:

For kids grades 7 and up, we offer things like Student Leadership Council, dances, field trips, parties, and more.  For kids grades 6 and below, we offer field trips, park or beach dates ,and  play dates.

Q:

Can we schedule a time to visit?

A:

Absolutely.  We will allow families to tour the facility, meet the teachers, or even have kids "shadow" our students for a day.  However, families are not allowed to show up without scheduling an appointment.

Q:

How many weeks does Anchored Adacemy meet?

A:

We meet for 30 weeks throughout the year.  We have a scheduled fall break, spring break, Thanksgiving break, and winter break. Typical years will start in August and end in April.

Q:

Can we use our own curriculum at home?

A:

It is NOT recommended that you have your child do additional curriculum at home for the courses that are being taken at Anchored Academy. The exception to this would be for grades 1 and 2.  All other courses are substantial and will stand alone unless an instructor suggests an item be added.

Q:

When is tuition due?

A:

All tuition is due on or before orientation day each year.

Q:

When can students be dropped off, and when do I need to pick them up?

A:

Students cannot be dropped off before 8:45 as doors to the facility will not be open until that time.  Students need to be picked up at 2:40.

Q:

What does a typical day look like?

A:

Students may be dropped off beginning at 8:45.  At 9:00 classes begin. Each class lasts 55 minutes with a 5 minute break between classes for students to use the bathroom, change classes, and chat.  We have 3 periods in the morning followed by lunch beginning at 11:55.  The final 2 classes begin at 12:45 and end at 2:40.

Q:

If I sign up my child for classes at Anchored Academy, does that mean I don't have to teach them at home?

A:

NO! You are still your child's primary teacher.  While our classes are designed to provide students with specialized instruction, Anchored's classes do not absolve the parents from their responsibility for their children's education. Parents must ensure that their students keep up with assigned work each week as well as administer tests and determine final grades.
