Graduation Guidelines

The LCHE Graduation ceremony is one of our most enjoyed events of the year. For well over 20 years, our LCHE families have celebrated the culmination of the Lord's work in the lives of our children, as well as in the lives of our families.

Throughout the years, this ceremony has been held in various locations and the size of the graduating class has grown to over 20 graduates. Many family members and their friends come together for this occasion.

Although minor aspects of each graduation are different, we are thankful that the core traditions remain unchanged. The following guidelines have been established so that all of our LCHE families can continue to share this celebration together.

We will remain committed to the purpose of LCHE, which is to be a distinguished Christian organization that brings glory to God through our families.

Please review the following items for our guidelines:

  • The LCHE Board of Directors will appoint a Chairman for the graduation committee each year.  A member of the Board will be in attendance for the first graduation planning meeting to discuss guidelines and to answer questions.

  • The Father's Charge is to be a foundational part of the graduation; fathers of the graduates have the option of participating or may appoint another male substitute.

  • The Laying on of Hands (The Blessing) is an essential part of the graduation, with the purpose to distinguish the LCHE graduation from secular graduations.

  • Graduation colors are to be black and gold.  Girls must all wear knee length (or longer) dresses or skirts under their robes while boys must all wear a tie, dress pants, and dress shoes.  Graduates may wear sashes and/or other decorative articles for aesthetic purposes with no endorsement by LCHE as to the educational achievements of the students.

  • Students and parents are expected to participate in the graduation previous to their graduation.  Such participation includes but is not limited to ushering and reception hosting.

  • The Board of Directors will set a budget for graduation cost incurred for food, linens, and audio operations.  Reasonable appropriations may be made by the Board according to the number of graduating seniors.

  • A Board of Directors member or an appointee will be present at the graduation ceremony to present a welcome and opening remarks.

  • Any deviations from these guidelines will have to be approved by the LCHE Board of Directors.

  • If there is any indecision about a subject not in direct conflict with these guidelines, it will be put to a vote by the graduation committee with the majority ruling.

  • All graduates must be a present member of LCHE and having been a member the previous year. Consideration will be given by the Board of Directors for extenuating circumstances of new members.

  • A graduation fee will be collected from each graduate and will be calculated based on years of membership.
