But what are the GA standards?  Every homeschool is different.  What you teach your child in second grade may not be at all what a friend going to a public or private school is learning.  Still we always get the question...but how do you know what the standards are?  So, according to the state of GA....here they are:  GA Performance Standards by Grade Level

Homeschool Classes and Hybrid Schools

It is important that you find the right support group for your family, both from a philosophical and a geographical perspective.  Our recommendation is to get really clear on what type of support group you are looking for.  1)- Do I want an active community that I can do a lot of things with OR am I looking more for on-line support and encouragement?  2)Is it important that the group be Christian with a statement of faith requirement? 3) Do I want a co-op option within the group or am I fine with finding drop off classes should the need arise?
Some other support groups in our area include:

SASCH is a sister group to DASCH, based in Smyrna.

NEACH is a Christian “intown” group.

PEACH is a Christian group based in Roswell

Dunwoody Homeschool Hive is a secular/inclusive group that does park days and outings in the area

CHEER – Christian Home Educators Encouragement and Resources meets at Perimeter Church in Duluth/Alpharetta

GHEA – Georgia Home Education Association this is the statewide Christian homeschool organization

DCHE – (DeKalb Christian Home Educators) meets in Stone Mountain

LEAD - (Learners and Educators of Atlanta and Decatur) has an active secular group and co-op program in Decatur

There are numerous other Georgia based homeschool groups you can find by searching on www.homeschool-life.com, HERD, or by searching GHEA’s site.

These Yahoo! groups  include events and homeschool related topics relevant to the Atlanta area.

Homeschool conferences also provide a wealth of information with seminars and other programming to support, encourage, and educate homeschooling parents as well as curriculum fairs.  GHEA's conference focuses on Christian speakers and materials and is held near the airport in late April/early May.  The Southeast Homeschool Expo has more secular programming and materials and is held at the Cobb Galleria at the end of July/early August.

There are numerous Sports classes and teams that serve homeschoolers in metro Atlanta.
