FAQs

Q:

What is NCHE?

A:

NCHE stands for Nassau County Home Educators Support Group.  It is a homeschooling support group that strives to provide encouragement and community for all homeschooling families in and around Nassau County, FL. We average around 150-175 familes.

Q:

What are the benefits of joining NCHE?

A:

Our group offers many educational opportunities - such as a homeschool library, field trips, and the opportunity to participate in our co-ops.  There are also events to foster community, including weekly park days and seasonal parties/ gatherings.

The group also offers support for parents, through “Iron Sharpens Iron” meetings for moms, and Moms (or Couples) Nights Out.

We provide annual testing and frequent “how-to” type meetings for homeschoolers in various stages of the journey. Other annual events include a Christmas Party, Field Day, Prom, Book & Cirriculum Sale, and High School and Kindergarten Graduations.

Q:

How do I join NCHE?

A:

The two steps to membership are completing an application on this website  (click on Join) and paying the annual dues of $20.00 via PayPal.  When your application is complete and NCHE has received your dues, you will receive notification that your application is approved.

Q:

Does it cost to join this website?

A:

Dues to NCHE will cover the cost for this website.  NCHE is the subscriber to the website and is responsible for payment; individual families have no responsibility for payment to the website.

Q:

Will my NCHE membership include membership to Florida Parent-Educators Association (FPEA)?

A:

The $20 dues for NCHE do not include FPEA membership, but Florida homeschoolers are GREATLY encouraged to join this statewide support group in addition to their local group.  Families who join FPEA through NCHE will receive a $10 discount – making FPEA membership $30 rather than $40. To join FPEA at the group membership rate go to www.fpea.com click on Membership, then Join FPEA and use the code (GRP-0692) in the coupon code field.

Q:

Why should I join FPEA?

A:

From their website:

The Florida Parent-Educators Association exists solely to serve homeschooling families in Florida. It executes that mission through support for the legal right to homeschool, local school board education and interaction, support group networking, a state convention, local conferences and events, informative communications, and individual encouragement.
