About SVCHE

What to expect from your Sauk Valley Christian Home Educators Group:

  1. Field Trips: Field trips vary each year and are coordinated by parent volunteers.

  2. Celebrations: Parent volunteers coordinate our Fall Teen Party, Christmas Party, Spring Teen Party, Easter Party, Field Day, and Graduation.

  3. Group Activities: These family friendly activities are also organized by parent volunteers. Activities vary but have included open gym, park dates, skate nights, sledding, bowling, teen nights, as well as a pool party in August.

  4. Yearbook and School Photos: We facilitate a school photo day as well as create a yearbook each school year that covers SVCHE activities.

  5. Graduation: We offer a graduation in May. Homeschool students graduating from 8th grade and 12th grade are encouraged to participate in graduation.

  6. Friday School: Friday School is a co-op that meets for 6 weeks during the fall and spring. Friday School is held at Harvest Time Bible Church located at 1802 Dixon Ave. Rock Falls. Various classes are offered based on grade levels for three periods between 9 to 11:40 a.m. Parents teach at least one class and help in another. Families new to the group may delay teaching their first semester. Instead, they will be asked to help in 2 classes during their 1st semester. Friday School requires registration and class fees in addition to the SVCHE membership fee.

  7. Family Directory: An online member directory is available to all members to help us keep in touch. Information in the directory is confidential and is not to be given, sold, or distributed in anyway to anyone who is not a member of SVCHE. Nor is the information to be used for soliciting business.

  8. HSLDA: SVCHE members are eligible to receive a discount for HSLDA membership. Contact Corrie for the discount number. HSLDA is like legal insurance specific to homeschooling. If you were to have a problem with the school system because you are homeschooling, HSLDA  would provide you as a member with legal assistance for no additional cost. HSLDA watches new legislation and fights to maintain the right to homeschool in every state. HSLDA website is a great homeschool resource and a place to order graduation caps, gowns, and diplomas.

  9. Other Programs we have Offered in the Past: We currently need coordinators for each of these. If you are interested in restarting the programs for the group, please let us know. We have participated in the Scholastic Book Club, God's World Magazine subscription, and the 6 Flags – Read to Succeed Program which offers a free Six Flags admission ticket to eligible students in K-6th grade,
