Mrs. Mandy Nelson To All Instructors

Mandy is a native Minnesotan who has been actively teaching kids, teens, and young adults for over 25 years. She first taught middle school and high school English in the public schools for 12 years before stepping into teaching Relationships as well as Teaching Methods for Ministry in the Christian Ministries Department at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul.

In 2012, Mandy and her husband co-founded Empowering Ranch through which she has led Socratic scripture studies for people of all ages while also offering mentoring, counseling, and speaking. Whether facilitating dialogue around classic novels or exploring the stories of scripture, she heartily believes we learn the most when we invite Holy Spirit and others into the conversation with us. She absolutely loves connecting with young people and encouraging them in their journey with Jesus, and she has been involved in church youth ministry for decades.

In addition to her other endeavors, Mandy has been facilitating leadership development for global clients for the past 9 years. As part of their training, she invites participants to engage in critical thinking and identifying various perspectives from which a person may approach a topic or situation.

Mandy earned her undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Secondary Education Language Arts at Bethel University and her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Colorado Denver. As a lover of the Bible and of language, she also studied Hebrew and Greek at Denver Seminary.

Mandy is a high energy woman who delights in outdoor activities like hiking and biking. She also experiences much joy when engaging others in meaningful conversations.
