CCHSA (Cenla Christian Home School Association) has been a member group of Homeschool Louisiana (Homeschool Louisiana: A Community of Christian Home Educators), which is the state homeschool organization, since the 1996-1997 school year, formerly known as CHEF of Louisiana. This organization is not connected with the state government. Homeschool Louisiana attempts to connect and assist all of the different Christian homeschool groups in the state of Louisiana. Local group benefits derived from Homeschool Louisiana membership include discounts in both the annual Louisiana homeschool convention fees and HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) annual membership, training of local leaders to benefit area groups, and regular email alerts regarding ongoing activities or concerns.
With efforts by a Homeschool Louisiana Legislative Liaison, Homeschool Louisiana keeps up with the current legislative activity that might affect homeschool families. Homeschool Louisiana leadership and District Representatives have contact with each local group to distribute this information, largely through regular email updates to all statewide members.
Homeschool Louisiana group membership requires that the officers and members of the local group desiring Homeschool Louisiana membership sign a statement of faith which also includes a statement of belief on family and on education. (The persons who desire membership should also be in confessional and ethical compliance with these statements. If they are found to be in non-compliance, membership will be revoked.)
Homeschool Louisiana accepts only group memberships; they do not accept memberships from individual families. That is why your dues are collected and sent in by our local group. Homeschool Louisiana requires annual dues of $10.00 per member family. This is paid through the local member group of Homeschool Louisiana (in this case, CCHSA) as part of the annually renewable CCHSA membership dues.
