LOGIC Club Overview
WEEKLY CLASSES:
LOGIC meets every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm at Fair Haven Christian Church, 1476 W 300 S, Franklin, Indiana. We do not meet holiday weeks or the week following a tournament. Classes begin in late August and end in early May. The club calendar is always on the website and is updated throughout the year as the tournament schedule is released.
During the fall semester, class time will primarily focus on instruction and overall speaking skills; with weekly homework to move students through the process of preparing their speeches or debate cases for competition. Second semester is primarily focused on refining these presentations before and after each competitive tournament.
TOURNAMENTS:
Christian Communicators of America (CCA) organizes regional tournaments; two day events that bring multiple clubs together for the purpose of competition. These events encourage and challenge our students as they sharpen one another through friendly competition. LOGIC is invited to one CCA tournament per month (Feb-May); in general, two will be local and two will be travel tournaments (bordering states). Although students benefit greatly from attending all tournaments; LOGIC families are only required to attend the two local tournaments.
ELIGIBLITY:

If this requirement is met, then younger students in the family may join classes (see below).

PARENT INVOLVMENT:
In order to function effectively, LOGIC must have dedicated volunteers. Parents will be required to assist in some capacity. It is not a “drop off” program. Our mission is to assist parents in training their students to become effective communicators; therefore, you will need to learn along with your student and work with your student to accomplish this. There is often a direct correlation between the involvement of the parent(s) in LOGIC and the success of the student(s).
Parents will be assigned snack duty/clean up and class assistant and dad devotion duties in the club 'Parent Rotation' schedule. There are also various other volunteer roles in the club that parents can use their gifts and talents to fulfill.
COST:
LOGIC charges a annual club fee per family (less than $80). Every tournament has competitor registration fees (avg $35 per student); travel tournaments have the additional implied travel expenses (gas, food, lodging).
DRESS CODE:
There is a professional dress code that all students must follow for both classes and tournaments. (details provided with registration)
