FAQs

Q:

How do Sonlight classes work?

A:

We are a traditional homeschool co-op where all classes are parent-taught. With the rich pool of talent found among homeschooling parents, enrichment classes around the country have achieved great success. At least one parent per family must be present during the time their child(ren) are attending classes. The key ingredient is cooperation! Everyone will be busy for all or part of a five period day. We require a minimum attendance of at least three hours per day!

Q:

Who is right for SCEC?

A:

All homeschooling families who want a cooperative learning environment to supplement their own schools. Since 1993 we have offered Enrichment Classes in the Mid-Cities area. Benefits include very low cost, a diversity of classes, quality & effective teaching, academic accountability, fellowship and a lot of fun!

Members need a student in kindergarten or older to attend. Younger siblings are welcome in the nursery.

Q:

What is the parent's role at Sonlight?

A:

A parent must teach a minimum of one class or may elect to serve on the cleaning crew for Sonlight. During the hours a parent is not teaching, he/she will serve as an assistant in other classes. Returning the Application Form is necessary to be put on our waiting list. Incomplete applications will be considered.

What classes are available?

A:

Q:

How much does Sonlight cost?

A:
