Aimee Byman To All Instructors

Aimee Byman considers herself a Virginia local living much of her childhood and the majority of her adulthood in the Hampton Roads area.  She currently resides in Virginia Beach with her husband, Eric, who is a family physician, her three children, and many pets.

Her early teaching experience began in college tutoring biology students while at Old Dominion University where she received a B.S. in Biology in 1998. She went on to earn her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2003.  Afterwards she trained PA students while working in the emergency department, family medicine, and dermatology settings.  In 2012 she placed her medical career on hold in order to homeschool her young daughter, who was experiencing some academic challenges.  Simultaneously, she spent time at her older son’s christian private school instructing middle and high school science students as well as middle school writing.  She was introduced to NILD educational therapy in 2014 and witnessed how it changed her daughter’s learning difficulties.  She received training and certification as an Educational Therapist from the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD) in 2018 and worked in the private school setting.  She currently serves at Homeschool Plus as an Individual Educational Therapist and enjoys coming along side parents and students in their learning journey.

She’s passionate about growth mindset, learning all about brain development and creating an environment where children can reach their full potential. In her spare time she enjoys keeping up to date on new medical trends, all things homeschooling, traveling, cooking, bee-keeping, beautiful sunsets, and spending time with family and friends.
