Watson Ranch Aviation Project
In the fall of 2016 a group of homeschool students and a few dads who love airplanes started a project which has become known as the Watson Ranch Aviation Project. The main goal is to use the plans created by Bernard Pietenpol in 1929 to build our own version of his Air Camper, but this project is so much more than just assembling parts to construct an airplane. We are learning about the diverse skills required to bring such a complex project to fruition. That means learning about project management, budgeting, how to raise capital, marketing and PR, as well as tackling some design engineering problems as we modify the original design to better suit our needs. We are also learning about trade studies and using them to determine the best choices for our project as we go. And we're having a blast doing it!
