In Colorado an independent school operates under the Non-Public School Law, this allows you to operate under that school's policies and yet still teach your children at home.  Each independent school has its own policies and procedures.  Click here to read ours. If you enroll in an independent school your children are considered students of that school and are not required to submit a letter of intent to the school district. You’re still responsible for all aspects of homeschooling – curriculum, teaching, record keeping, and assessments. You just report to the independent school as a private school student instead of to the local public school district as a homeschool student.

No.  El Shaddai Christian Academy does not provide classes or enrichment programs.  We are an independent school that allows families to teach their children at home.  We do not have a brick and mortar building.  We encourage families to find enrichment opportunities out in their communities.

Click "Request Membership in this Group" and fill out the form.  Once you are approved for membership on the site you will need to fill out the rest of the required paperwork and pay the enrollment fees.  Be aware that your enrollment is not complete until all fees are received and paperwork is turned in.

Yes.  Students taught at home under an umbrella school are considered private school students and are allowed to participate in public school actitivites as the district allows.  Usually families are required to participate with the public school in the district where they live, or in the district where they are enrolled with the Independent school (for El Shaddai that is Jefferson County).

No.  Curriculum is not included as part of your enrollment fee.  We will answer curriculum questions and provide guidance, but parents select the curriculum of their choice.

• Flexibility--when enrolling with us you get to choose your own curriculum, and the hours per day that you homeschool.  There are no "required" hours per day, although we do suggest 4 hours as a good average.  All that is required is 172 days per year
• Have greater testing flexibility than if you homeschool under the homeschool law.  El Shaddai does not require testing, so you can test any year you like, using any test you like, or provide an evaluation, or not test at all.  Most of our families do test, but you have the freedom to decide what will best serve your family.
• A $100 fee for the year ($150 after August 1st) covers your family for the whole year.  
• We provide letters of recommendation, report cards for your insurance, etc.
• We also provide transcripts and diplomas for High School Students (there is a one time $40 fee for HS students)
• Receive discounts on HSLDA membership
• We can provide student/teacher ID cards
• Curriculum advice and support from our admin staff
• Begin schooling immediately upon acceptance--no 14-day waiting period
• Records held confidentially

Anyone currently homeschooling can enroll in our school.  In the event of truancy, suspension, parents with disputed educational authority, or other similar situations, the application may be reviewed by the administator or the board of directors.
