Uniquely You: Understanding Personality and Learning Types Through the Lens of the Gospel (HS 5 Credits)
Description:
I am an extrovert. I am at my happiest when my calendar is full of engaging activities, when I'm exploring (and accomplishing) various hobbies and projects, and I love learning especially when the information is useful to me or presented through an engaging audiobook. For the most part, I understand people who share my general personality type. However, God often places us in close proximity with our opposites. (Ask me how I know? Que the wedding bells.) Whether it's parents, siblings, or coworkers, we are challenged daily by those around us who think differently. Why is that, and which one of us is right? Though we can all be grouped in large categories like extrovert/introvert, auditory/visual, neurodivergent, etc. each of us is uniquely made by the Creator and we're designed to live in community with other uniquely designed individuals. In this class, we will learn about these frameworks and how they might be used to describe who you are. As we do so, we will learn more about those mysterious loved ones in order to build stronger families, more effective communication, and a deeper understanding of God's diverse creation.
To receive a semester's credit, students must participate in class discussions and complete the assigned homework. Homework will include assigned reading, podcasts, and/or videos. Expected topics include Myers Briggs, learning differences, learning types, and birth order. All learning material will be anchored in the Gospel.
