South Bay Faith Academy, Inc. is primarily a Christian ministry. It is operated to serve evangelical Christian families who are regularly attending their local church. In our communications and course of study materials, our spiritual orientation will be of primary importance. We hope to prove faithful to God and His Word as we accomplish the ministry of helping His people.
Summary of School Policies
- Each family will read and agree to abide by all the rules and regulations stated in the South Bay Faith Academy Handbook.
- Due to the ambiguous political legal position of private home education programs, South Bay Faith Academy cannot offer legal immunity and is only providing school services to assist parents in the homeschooling of their children.
- All families must be members of Home School Legal Defense Association and agree to abide by all their rules and regulations. The loss of HSLDA membership will result in disenrollment at SBFA.
- Both parents must be in agreement concerning the responsibilities of homeschooling.
- If both parents/legal guardians do not live at the same address but share custodial and educational choice rights, both parents/legal guardians must be informed and in agreement with homeschooling.
- If only one parent retains the rights to custodial and educational choices, only that parent’s choices will be honored by SBFA.
- The following are the responsibilities of the parents of SBFA:
- Although SBFA is keeping student records, it is in no way responsible for their actual education. Parents agree to diligently and consistently teach their student(s) a suitable course of study and provide parental supervision during school hours. Parents will provide and pay for their own curriculum.
- Parents will keep records on forms provided and turn in forms/copies to the school when due.
- All financial obligations to SBFA are due in the office or postmarked by the first Friday of the month. The late fee for tuition is $25.
- Each family will complete and record at least six Parent Education per year (3 per semester). Several meetings will be scheduled throughout the year. Up to two Bibles Studies (one per semester) may be used for Parent Education credit.
- Parents are required to accompany their students to both Academy Day and school-sponsored activities in order to be responsible for their safety and supervision. Families who provide day care for other children may not bring them to Academy Day, unless prior approval has been received for extenuating circumstances.
- As we are to teach all things from a Biblical Worldview, Academy Day Teachers must teach from the Bible, not adding interpretations according to doctrinal or personal beliefs and opinions.
- The South Bay Faith Academy Board of Directors reserves the right to suspend or expel any family/student who fails to abide by the rules and school policies contained in the SBFA Handbook. The services of the school are engaged by mutual consent, and either the parents or the school reserve the right to terminate any or all services at any time by written notification.
- In keeping with the standards set by the Bible, South Bay Faith Academy, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, or Christian denomination in the acceptance of students or staff. The Board of Directors reserves the right to refuse applicants who are not regularly attending a Christian church or for any other reason.
