Welcome to Greater Rochester LEAH! Over 30 years ago, local pioneer homeschoolers gathered together to start the first Rochester chapter of LEAH. Homeschoolers came from all over to encourage each other and offer activities for their families. The homeschool climate was much different then (legal persecution, very little curriculum, no co-ops and no internet!) but these dedicated families were convicted about teaching their children and GR LEAH was born. There are many more wonderful groups today but it is with this heritage in mind, that we continue GR LEAH.
GR LEAH is a Christian home-schooling support group whose intent is to encourage, inform, and provide fellowship for both home-schooling parents and their children. As a support group, our purpose is to help you in your God-given responsibility of training your children through home education. We offer a variety of programs and activities; we encourage you to choose the ones that will most benefit your family. Programs offered may include activities such as Group Lessons, Used Curriculum Sale, Mom’s Time, Support Meetings, the Rochester Rapids Basketball and Soccer competitive boys and girls sports teams, Graduation Ceremony, Winter Fun Day and Field Trips. All families are encouraged to serve in some way during the year. Members must agree to our Statement of Faith and Conduct/Dress Code.
We are a chapter of NYS LEAH. Loving Education at Home, Inc. is a Christian organization, the members of which are like-minded Christian home-education support groups made up of families dedicated to observing Biblical commands, such as: Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Proverbs 22:6 and Ephesians 6:4. The purpose of our organization is to support and encourage families in NYS that home school their children. We have found that this support and encouragement is best provided through a network of the local support groups, organized into geographic regions, throughout New York State.
Statement of Purpose
LEAH is a Christian homeschooling support group whose intent is to encourage, inform, and provide fellowship for both homeschooling parents and their children. Periodic evening programs for parents or families are held. Activities for children (ie., field trips, parties, group lessons) are provided periodically as well. Dues are collected yearly to cover the costs of our local group and membership in the NY State LEAH, including a subscription to the state LEAH newsletter. All members of our group are encouraged to serve in some way during the year.
