We would like to invite all 2019 graduates and their parents to join us for an informational meeting Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 pm. The meeting will take place at West Lansing Church of Christ (5505 W. St. Joseph, Lansing, MI 48817).
The Mid-Michigan Home School Graduation is sponsored by Christian Home Educators Support System (CHESS). Even though this is sponsored by CHESS, you do not have to be a CHESS member to participate. Graduation is open to any homeschool senior in Mid-Michigan who has met their parents' requirements for high school graduation. We do ask that you agree with CHESS' Statement of Faith. This year's graduation will take place on Friday evening, May 10, 2019 at South Church.
Why should you consider Mid-Michigan Home School Graduation for your senior? We believe it will provide an opportunity for your senior to graduate in a group setting, while, at the same time, reflecting the uniqueness of your individual home school. This ceremony will be an opportunity to bring honor and dignity to each of the graduates, but most importantly to glorify the Lord and thank Him for his faithfulness. It will be made up of group elements representing unity (such as a class verse and class motto/quote) and individual elements (student speeches given by a few) reflecting each student's unique personality.
Every family is an individual home school granting a diploma to their student for completing their requirements for graduation (diplomas are not awarded by or through CHESS). Parents of the graduate will personally present the diploma to their graduate. Each family or graduate will have an opportunity to share part of their schooling years, accomplishments, talents, personal blessings, etc., along with their future plans. As a group, the graduates will represent the Mid-Michigan homeschool community to their friends and family who are present.
Even though this year's graduation ceremony doesn't actually occur until May, it's time to begin planning your graduation NOW. At the first meeting, we will get to know one another and begin thinking about planning various aspects of this year's ceremony. We will have another meeting on February 7th and one on April 25th, as well as rehearsal May 9th. If you are planning on joining us for the October 18th meeting, please RSVP to Stefanie Shafer. If you know of other graduate families that would like to join us, please invite them to come along to the meeting with you.
