Pathway Statement of Faith

Our organization is Christ-centered with the Bible providing our basis and standard of truth and values.

We believe in the triune God as sovereign creator of all things. We believe that God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ came in human flesh born of the virgin Mary, being fully God and fully man except without sin. (Gen 1, John 1:1, John 1:14, John 10:30, John 8:58, Phil. 2:5-11.)
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and represents the final authority for faith and life. The Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole or in part; including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details. (II Tim. 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21, Matt. 4:4.)
We believe God created mankind in his image, and that male and female are equal image-bearers created to complement one another in the covenant relationship of marriage; the normative and biblically designed pattern for sexual relations for male and female. (Gen 1:26-28, Gen 2:24, Matt 19:4-6)
We believe that all men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act; and are therefore under His wrath and condemnation. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross - the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection. (Isaiah 53:6, Isaiah 53:12, Romans 6:23, John 3:16-18, Acts 5:30-32, Acts 13:29-39.)
We believe that salvation was birthed in the plan of God from all eternity, as God willed to graciously save a great multitude of guilty sinners from every tribe and language and people and nation, and to this end foreknew them and chose them. We believe salvation is offered as a gift; free to the sinner. The gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. (Romans 3:21-26, Ephesians 2:8-9.)
We believe that the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ, centered on his death and resurrection.
We believe that God’s Word became flesh in Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, born of the virgin Mary, sinless in life, crucified under Pontius Pilate, and resurrected from the dead by the power of God.
We believe Jesus is the only mediator between God and man, that salvation and redemption are found only in him, and that all who believe in him are justified from their sin before God.
We believe after Jesus rose from the dead he ascended into heaven and his Spirit descended on the day of Pentecost, birthing the Church. The Holy Spirit equips, empowers, and sanctifies God’s people.
We believe that those who have been saved by the grace of God, through union with Christ by faith, and through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, enter the kingdom of God and delight in the blessings of the new covenant.
We believe the universal church is manifested in local churches, of which Christ is the only Head. Thus each “local church” is the Church, the household of God, the assembly of the living God, and the pillar and foundation of the truth.
We believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordained by Jesus himself, and should be regularly observed by his church.
We believe in the personal, glorious, and bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ with his holy angels, when he will exercise his role as final Judge, and his kingdom will be consummated.
We believe that God has given to parents the responsibility of training, educating and nurturing their children. We are actively homeschooling our own school-age children and are responsibly, consistently teaching our children on their own individual levels. (Deut. 6:6-7, Prov. 22:6, Ephesians 6:4.)
